Re: http://tumble.conskeptical.net/post/741086360

Beautiful.

Re: conskeptical - the yoghurt conundrum

For example: always attack out of the sun (dogfights), see http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
- Be more knowledgeable about your adversary
- Be more aggressive? It was fantastic! The squatting position aided an immediate and total evacuation! I was up and running again in seconds (I buried my waste deep in the sand).

This might therefore be an argument for installing what the French call 'Turkish' toilets and what I call 'squat and thrust'. Only problem is (as we discussed) trying not to poo in your pants. Is highly tricky to pull off.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

I recall that in the Far East Indonesians would quite easily hunker down and squat whilst waiting in a queue with their feet flat on the floor and seem completely at ease!

Here is a photo of what I mean and an intriguing 'how to...' video.

http://www.hemorrhoidinform...

Enjoy.

Re: Holiday Updates

Holidays!?

Re: conskeptical - well, maybe

He certainly didn't seem phased by the crowd! That sort of poise is admirable.

Re: Vitor Belfort Keeps Karate Love Alive in UFC 103

I agree that Belfort's composure and movement seemed very 'karate' and it is good to see but his strikes were certainly less classical and more Queensbury than Karate. Sure Furiko zuki is sometimes covered in class but this guy was most certainly packing boxing style hook punches. I guess what I mean is that this guy gives off a karate aura (especially some nice trailing leg redressing) but he's mixing it up in the ring...surely?

Good comment from Remo: "not a bit of wasted movement"

Good post Matt.

Re: Care for a Callus?

I just don't do hard physical external body conditioning any more. I used to do a lot of knuckle work but realised that my hands looked like a minor criminals! I would walk into client meetings and see that the client was staring at my hands and I faced up to the fact that I was punishing my body in anticipation of a self defence situation I hoped would never happen.

I still train hard and with heavy bags but I strap my hands up well. As a designer I count on my hands way too much and can't afford to bust them up. You might argue that conditioning them means that if I ever do have to use them they'd fare better in the outcome but I'll take the odds.

Re: Sherlock Holmes – Robert Downey Jr’s Martial Arts Detective

http://justathoughtmmra.blo...
This article by Michele inspired me to write an article about early twentieth century Western self-defence (as based on Eastern methodologies):
http://diaryofamartialartis...

Re: Goodbye Naha

Good luck for your transition back to Aussie life!
Are you planning on continuing the blog?
