I understand that the officer has his duty to stop someone when they dis-obey traffic laws. But Mr. Moats did use all the proper methods when it comes to safety of his self and others on the road. From watching the dash board video, he explained his situation and its obvious that he wasn't lieing because several individuals came out to inform the police officer. I don't think anyone can really go on the race factor, but it is a possibility.
There were other ways to handle the situation when refering to the police officer. Which Mr. Moats stated in his over the phone interview. And also Mr. Powell took his precious time when writing the ticket. In the video it shows that his fellow officer varified that the mother was dying and needed recesitation and they needed him there to do that, but he decided to finish writing the ticket before letting him go. And to top it off, he lectures him when handing him the ticket, waisting more valuable time.
I can't say I know exactly what Mr. Moats is going through, but I'm pretty sure that I can relate, because I lost a loved one years ago. I wasn't able to see her because I was to young and my parents felt like I didn't need to witness anyone dying at that age. Which is understandable, I recognize this now that I am older.
But my prayers go out to Mr. Moats and his family. And to the police officer I personally don't think he needs to wear the uniform if he can't decifer and practical judgements!
