If a user of your device is being pulled over by an officer (for whatever reason), the last thing anyone needs is for the frame to be triggered by the officer's light bar. I rise at 4:15 M-F, and am on the road by 4:45. My 110 mile drive takes slightly less than 2 hours in the morning (slightly more on in the evenings), and I work 6:30-3:30. I get home in time to take my kids to their Boy Scout meetings and karate classes (until 2 years ago, I trained in karate 2x each week). After evening activities, I get home around 8PM or so, then there's phone calls, e-mails, household tasks, relaxing in front of the TV etc. I retire between 10:30 and 11:00 each night.

To get the suggested 7 hours would require me to turn-in at 9PM. I can't imagine being tired that early, nor being able to fall asleep.

Re: Sleep is More Important than Food

Well said! On weekends I usually get an extra 1-2 hours per night. Occasionally I need a power nap on Tuesday or Wednesdays, but otherwise I have rigorous schedule.

Like your tip suggests, a ritual works best, and after all these years I think mine works well for me and my family. It should be noted, however, that having such a routine is in now way compared to being tortured with sleep deprivation, and using the late PM Begin's memoirs in this context is a bit inappropriate in my mind. One is clearly a choice of lifestyle, the other a harsh condition of imprisonment.

Re: http://www.crummeyshow.com/post/3485677989

What was Crash worried about? Maybe I am getting old (egad!), and can no longer answer the question "Why do you blog?" with the stand-by "Why not?"

Defeated? Maybe. Tired? Definitely.

Re: Confessions of a Blogger

I used to think like you did. Always checking my stats, always seeing where I ranked in the TTLB Ecosystem, and on and on.

Something clicked inside me, I don't know what: I don't care much any more for those things. When the day comes I don't care at all, I'll probably delete my humble blog. But right now, I am not all-that-into my blogging. A look at my posting stats reveals how little attention I pay to my own blog in the last 18 mths.

Insecure? Well, maybe. Or maybe my ego doesn't give a damn anymore. Regardless, whether my blog lives or dies, I'll always stay up-to-date with @WM's latest posts.

Re: Meet The Family part I

My buddy has a toon in his cubicle: scene is the living room, with husband looking out the window: the cops are handcuffing a guy in a tee-shirt on our lawn; were you expecting your brother to visit??
