Try raising a family on $700 a month. For that pittance they have to risk life and limb? There's more going on here than common sense. It's called greed.

Re: Top 10 Solutions to Cut Poverty and Grow the Middle Class

It's refreshing to see someone understand more than one political perspective.

I disagree that hard work = success, since plenty of people with full time jobs still fall under the poverty line, while inheritance, ownership and investing are paths to wealth that don't require any work at all. Power sand the edges, bevel if you want. Get aquarium plants from an online discount pet supply place. Supplement with plants from Michael's or other plastic flower / plant aisles.

Use hot glue to attach a sprig of plant to the edge of the base. Use cups or other props to hold up the foliage while the hot glue dries. When this dries, cover the join with tacky glue and then sand. You can
also glue down treated moss to cover the join or add bushes. Dab some tacky glue in the joins of the plants since many of them are segmented.

Repeat this step every two or three inches around the edge of the base.

For more of a 40k look, use cut corks and bottle caps for barrels, and some bits form your bits box. Super glue is fine here. A cut up used gift card can be used as scrap metal barricades or flooring. Coffee stirrers or Popsicle sticks are also useful.

Model magic air dry foam or the kind for Lakeshore learning center is perfect for adding variations in height, for craters and pools, or smoothing out joins. It is also fantastic for making boulders and mushrooms. It also protects the Masonite from warping from glue in the next step.

Flock by startying with a layer of Elmer's white glue, not watered down. Use an old large brush or piece of plastic to evenly coat the base. Cover with sand or ballast.

Prime. There is a rust red primer from Rustoleum for $4 at the hardware store. You may want to pick up a black and a flat green as well, just make sure you are using flat and not satin or gloss.

Drybrush the ground, flock with foliage mix or static grass in patches. Pant the plants and bits detail.

To follow up, make mobile foliage clusters on 40mm poker chips to fill in the hollow space

Re: Review: Gale Force 9 Desert Terrain

Barf, those hills look very wobbly for models.

Re: Wargames Gallery 11-4-11

I loved seeing Mkerr's centaurs in person.

Re: Phoenix Jones Loses Job, Barred From Working With Children

Here's the video so you can judge for yourselves instead of listening to possible lying eyewitnesses.

http://www.bleedingcool.com...

Re: 40K Rumors: Tau and Chaos Latest

"its lost and the damned influenced... Just overall a shady player, the closest I have come to WAAC since 4th edition. I think being obnoxious might have been part of his plan because it actually broke my spirit and desire to play the game (against him anyway.) His terrible attitude actually helped him win.

Re: 40K: Meat Grinder - The New Competitive Mech Imperial Guard

I am a fan of the MM Banewolf also, but it usually dies before doing much thanks to my IG inexperience.

Re: 40K: Meat Grinder - The New Competitive Mech Imperial Guard

Don't come to a tournament with a bad list and expect to do well. Competition requires making some sacrifices in list building creativity in order to win games. Save your creativity for the modeling and the backstory, like MBG has done.

Re: 40K: Murmors of 6th Edition

I agree. I would like one very flexible chaos book instead of a bunch of variants. It looks like they are going to do daemons + 2 chaos marine books, and if there are 3 books and still no mutant armies it will be very lame indeed.

Re: 40K: Murmors of 6th Edition

Still no AdMech, still no rogue trader, still no squat, and still no PDF lists. What I really want is an official book that gives you good options to cover some of these kind of forces, plus lost and the damned. The Imperial Guard and Grey Knights book are okay for this purpose but missing a lot of potential options.

Re: 40K: Murmors of 6th Edition

Imperial releases? I think you are correct to try and divide up the GKs.

I have a painted Tyranid army that is "scheduled" to go to the next TSHFT but I am so wary of taking a force I have so little confidence in. Meanwhile I am in the modeling stage of a Grey knights force. I see the "Nids as so fragile that the numbers advantage is questionable. Any encouragement such as this article makes me more willing to take an army to a tournament that isn't considered amongst the strongest.

Re: Editorial- The Counts as Debate Rages on..

I have "counts as" Thousand Sons force also. I run them as Space Wolves because it fits the profile of a chaos marine so much better. I also have an actual Space Wolves army but I don't like the models as much, I wanted to do lots of mutations and popping colors.I didn't have the ability or inclination to model everyone with storm bolters and force weapons. I just got a real Grey Knights army because I play stuff WYSIWYG.

I got shitloads of flack from one player, who loved the paint and conversions but was FURIOUS about "counts as." He had a less than half painted, completely unfluffy chaos army using the common power units so all the flak he gave me was laughable. I was also using common power units but they were heavily converted and fit with the army. This guy was just overall an argumentative bully that pulled at least three shady moves, I think at some level he kept me all the shit over my army (a labor of love) was part of his WAAC psyk-out mind games. He's sitting there calling my army cheesy while he takes me out with Lash and Obliterators, I guess it's no longer cheesy if it's a list from last year? Amusingly enough he loved 'Ard Boyz. DId I criticize his list or models? No I did not, I just said I personally couldn't win games with the chaos codex (although I probably could Iif I threw theme to the wind and took something like he took). Guess what? I wanted to play non-rubric Thousand Sons, not a hodgepodge mishmash of 4 separate warbands.

40k should be played for fun and I am sick of the judgmental bullshit. Sorry if this all sounds too bitter.

Re: Editorial- The Counts as Debate Rages on..

It's not supposed to look just like Mephiston, otherwise it wouldn't fit with the aesthetic theme of MBG's army.

Re: Editorial- The Counts as Debate Rages on..

Come on, people can keep track of a couple HQ substitutions. It's not that hard. Keeping a Mephiston model handy is just giving credence to the erroneous standpoint of the complainers. "Counts as" is legal, encouraged by GW, and here to stay. Learn to love it.

Re: Editorial- The Counts as Debate Rages on..

OK this may sound arrogant but here goes. When one of us ultra-hobbyists goes to town to convert and paint a whole army to some kick-ass standard, other 40k players should show a little appreciation instead of tearing us down. Creativity should be encouraged. Rules-ets do not equal army theme. I have more ranting about this over at my blog. Ok no one has to kiss-ass really, but a little hobby appreciation is in order.

Your Mephiston is fine and I love your defense. Your opponents should have been thanking you for giving them something unique to look at for a popular character instead of a static pose mode starting to show its age.l
