Who are the teams involved and how many? Anyone have any idea why CCHS is not in it? Image if Central was omitted from the Christmas tourney in hoops. Is someone keeping them out?

Re: Andover’s Farnham to work out for Pats today

Any HS baseball talk Hector. Very underserved on your part. There has to be a few good players/teams out there.

Re: OK, it’s late but I want to be on the record here … Central to nip Andover

Hector, I guess if you compare all the other CCHS scores, 15 points qualifies as "nipped". Looks like no one else gets close in the conference. Central gets better as the year progresses with injured and sanctioned players returning and inexperienced bench players improving. My guess is Andover reached their potential, Central not even close. Remember, they rotate 9-10 players and they seem to tweek it game to game. Look for them to go deep into the bench the rest of the way.
How many teams rotate 12 players?

Re: Just in from the XMas tourney finals

Before we annoint this team, let's take off the rose colored glasses. Way too many turnovers in the first half. Lost count at around 13. Should this happen again in the States, they lose. Better decision making by the guards is a must. Cudo's to the CCHS coaching staff for staying with player or players through a pretty rough stretch. Perhaps they would respond better to a little time on the pine. Good halftime adjustments by Coaches and better play. This team needs balanced backcourt scoring. Has to be someone quick enough to get to the rack reguarly or stick the jumpshot. Plenty of talent, hopefully someone steps up and the caoches recognize it.
As I mentioned previously, there are no challenges in the MVC. Andover, the only real threat was beaten by 15, could easily be 20-25 next go around.
Finally, "feel bad for Andover" are you kidding!

Re: Merry Christmas and enough with the inner machinations of CCHS … the tourney semis are set

Don't mind $1. for a program or $5 for a tee. However, and perhaps a sign of a weak ecomony, Christams Tourney players are charged to watch games when they are not on the floor. A shameless money grab. They need to watch their competiton. I was behind a couple of players denied entry and short a few dollars. Pretty sad, especially when they lay their bodies out to entertain the crowds.
A few chippy moments out there on the floor, hopefully the refs keeps raps on the physical stuff when the scores get lopsided.
Finally, doesn't appear anyone will get close to Central
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Re: Fazed in on hoops, with some baseball mixed in

Downright criminal to disallow any high school student from participating in sport, unless there are disciplinary reasons. For what, petty jealously. Just a hunch, but my guess is the Principal had no idea, and the AD only knew what he heard from the coach. Misguided loyalty for sure. Does this readership have any have any Class left. Certainely not the blogger that spews this petty crap "Evan has told any and everyone in NA for the past year that is the exact reason he wanted to transfer- to go to the premier b-ball program in the state right now". Maybe if he had a little encouragement in NA he would have stayed. Anyway, more germain to the spirit of this blog, can he play? Curious to hear about his game.
Hector, please police this thing and set the bar a little higher please. Calling kids out with dispariging remarks. Truly shameful!
A dearth of point guards in the area. This depends on your definition. Absolutely, the way I see it! Speed, Quickness, and Court Vision, makes the players around him better by getting them involved. To a lesser extent the good jumpshot to make the defense honest. Penetration is critical to the cosumate PG. Penetrate and create, finish if it shows. No one fits the description, have yet to see the kid that can break down the defense off the dribble. Have to get to the rack. Many play the position, few fit the bill.
Hopefully the PG emerges for Central. A few new faces on the court. They'll need time to gel. Believe it or not they look to be playing sub par. What is obvious is their athleticism. A collection of speed and quickness that will drive any team asunder. Coulpe that with Carson's domination near the hoop, games become ugly, quickly. If there is a true PG in the area let them breakdown the CCHS backcourt pressure and get easy hoops. The Christmas tourney should be telling. If Lawrence or Andover can't get close, it'll be a long arduous season for all.

Re: Closing out the fall with the final Fantastic Four and the second annual All-Longo team selections

Time to blog about hoops! Not sure of the details, you'd have to talk to the trainer. I do know the placeckicer and a starting safety did not play at Methuen. I also heard mention some playing with hard casts.
At Lawrence, on turf, advantage Billerica. Hopefully the defense steps up.

Re: Just got off the phone with Kevin Bradley and …

Methuen deserved this one. They played galantly and most importantly, intelligent. Four (4) turnovers by Central, 3 on punts was inexcusible. They must find someone to field punts...no return needed just catch the ball. Emotion was key, and Methuen had the edge here for sure. Can't win when you give the ball away that many times.
Let me add one more, that is, to the abysmal calls category. Methuen's winning drive, 3rd and long about the 40 yard line. Completion and tackle easily 2 yards shorth of the 1st down marker. We were right in front of the play on the Central side. God awful spot by the zebras...first down.
Central win this Fiday will make this one a faint memory. Going to be tough, though, hear they are pretty banged up. Hector any injury updates?

Re: Thursday night special!!!

The Central front has done a commendable job as well. They are setting up for the backers. Quite a few forced fumbles from this group.
Just a guess, but close to 10 picks on the season from the secondary. Thank the linebackers here for setting up the secondary
Just teamwork from this very good defensive squad!
Look for CC to hold down the Methuen offense
Central 24 Methuen 7

Re: It’s just another manic Monday …

Hec, you can expect the faithful to come out this weekend. I agree, not much of a turnout in Chelmsford, in the stands...everyone was on the field for cry'in out loud. Clean up the sideline and allow only essential personnel.
Been a while since CC has had a football team this good...only time will tell if they are great.
Don't hear much about defense, but that's what wins titles. This CC defense could be one of the best around, not only this year but in recent memory. Take a look at there points against, turnover ratio, size, speed and agility...several opportunistic playmakers. Great Div. 1 team stats. Why don't Trib. scribes report on defense. Every week we see the offensive tally, but no defensive stats...short sighted for sure. It would be great if we could see where they rank(all the teams) in the giveaway/takeaway dept. Forget the individual stuff give us some team Stats. This Central team plays both sides of the ball well, with the edge going to their defense. They will be tested for sure the next 3 weeks. If they come up on top, they might break the top ten? What's up with that. Time to get on the Bandwagon. Keep CCHS in the MVC, what would we talk about without them...Big News! Freshaman that never played a game goes back to North Andover...only newsworthy 'cause you have CCHS. Be careful what you wish for. See you in Methuen!

Re: A little Saturday morning quarterbacking …

Sorry, not the forum for names, just overall observations. Obvious though, a little help from the bench last year may have made the team better overall. Let's move on !

Re: A little Saturday morning quarterbacking …

Hector
I mentioned a year ago that CC had most of their talent on the bench. Some of your bloggers called it sour grapes, probably a disgruntled parent. Pre season Pundints were afraid to give this team their do, very few starters coming back. Pre season scrimmage against Xavarian was eye opening. Well here we are! How do you come from nowwhere and become a top twenty team.
Maybe there were not ready. Ya sure!
MVC second half should be very entertaining. Looks to me like Andover and Central in a prime Turkey Day matchup with possible playoff implications. Can't wait till Friday night

Re: Here’s this week’s Football Friday video

BYE BYE Metheun!

Re: Here’s this week’s Football Friday video

The rest of the season will be ugly for Methuen. I see losses to Chelmsford, Andover, CC and Dracut. The MVC is a grind! It'll be intersting to see who's standing at the finish line. Methuen has made gains and legitimized the program but they have a long way to go. Take a look at the top 20 rankings. Three MVC teams are among the elite...Sorry, not yet for Methuen.

Re: Here’s this week’s Football Friday video

Are you kidding!
