They can't know that price until he gets on the court. They can't go to his camp and legitimately ask "What do you think Rondo's worth?" until he plays.

Rondo won't be traded until at best (or worst, depending on how you view it) until this summer.

Poor ball movement is normally a legitimate excuse for poor off-ball movement, but a) you don't have to be getting passed to to cut, pick, etc. b) JG has a history of fading from the game, Was this a result of Crawford's passing or JG's passiveness? I'm gonna say the latter.

Do people really still take these rumors/Ainge's comments at face value? I challenge anyone to find recent moves the Celtics have made with no justification; you may not like them, but it doesn't mean the reasoning behind the move has no merit.

I'm shocked there are Celtics fans out there that really think we're trading for Asik to get better this year. We could be the third team in a deal that would net us picks or cap relief. We could be trading for Asik to flip or as a precursor of another move soon to come. We could be trading for him as a favor for the Rockets (healthy GM relations do have benefits, see: McHale, Kevin) and for cap space in a year and a half (which would make sense if Jeff Green is involved).

There's a lot of factors still unclear in this rumor. But you can bet Ainge won't pull the trigger for no reason, even if we don't see the benefit immediately.

I love Sullinger but I'm getting a little sick of him talking, a la Gerald Wallace. No one is discouraging these guys from giving it their all, some just feel a quicker trip to the lottery is the best way to rebuild (and not without merit). While many point to how tanking has ruined as many teams as it's built over the past couple decades (specifically the 2007 Cs), people forget it was our lack of a top five pick for over a decade that also contributed to the abysmal post-Bird/pre-Garnett era. After all, hasn't the blueprint of winning with a young All-Star such as Rondo and a collection of very good players such as Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger and Avery Bradley already been disproved? Sounds a lot like Paul Pierce, Ricky Davis/Wally Szczerbiak, Al Jefferson and Delonte West to me.

No one is telling Sullinger not to try to win or that he shouldn't try to be a great player or even that he isn't a great player already. The idea that pro-draft Celtics fans are bandwagon fans is ridiculous and insulting. Maybe he should do more of what makes us love him (playing basketball) and stop talking.

I have to go with Exum if we trade Rondo. I only want us to trade Rondo if we can get a team like Detroit to overpay with a guy like Drummond along with either a pick or expiring deal. In that case, Exum is the best fit and no slouch in terms of skills either. I've read around that the Cs love Exum and Ainge and his team certainly know what they're doing on draft day. I've watched his tapes and he shows flashes of Rondo and Tony Parker, only at 6'6". He has the same monstrous wingspan Rondo does and can play both positions, but his natural position is PG, which is exciting. Exum-Bradley-Gordon Hayward/Jeff Green/star acquired with our wealth of assets-Sullinger-Drummond is a stellar lineup that could be contending before Exum even turns 21.

If we keep Rondo, which again, will be the case unless we're overwhelmed with an offer, I have to be unexciting and go with Wiggins. Parker is phenomenal, as is Randle (though I don't like picking a guy that would overshadow one of our few gems in Sully), but there's a reason Wiggins has managed to hold these guys off for a while now. Clearly the most concrete, visible potential, good character, and a game that could impact an NBA season right now regardless of how much better he looks to be in a few years. Rondo-Bradley-Wiggins-Sully-Vitor/2015 big man (that draft is loaded with big guys) is another great lineup that could compete very soon, though in my opinion is a lesser lineup to the Exum lineup.

That is a masterful Photoshop job on Stevens. Also, you don't think Sully could be top five/ten in offensive rebounds as a starter? That's a pretty useful weapon to have on any team.

We lost 18 straight games in 2006-07 and if not for such mediocrity (even though we didn't get the second pick, we wouldn't have gotten the fifth pick if the team played like people want this year's team to play) we wouldn't have gotten Ray and therefore wouldn't have gotten KG. .500 basketball is no man's land, and much to the dismay of Boston fans, the Celtics aren't an exception. Nothing good can come of it, especially if fans think Rondo is a legit number one.

Is it just me or does it not matter what these guys say about the team? They not only want to have improved seasons to boost their trade value, but they need to appear to have a positive clubhouse impact on the team if they want to have a chance at jumping ship in February. Forgive me for being pessimistic, I just can't see Humphries being excited about coming from Brooklyn -- now a contender, where he would have gotten quite a bit of playing time -- to Boston -- potentially a laugher, where his position is logjammed.

It's funny how the comments are arguing that a squad of Jeff Green, sophomore and rehabilitating Sullinger and Avery Bradley can carry the Celtics at a .500 pace for a quarter of the season until Rondo comes back, then for the remaining 3/4 of the season, that same core plus a rehabilitating Rondo can play .500 ball. If that was to happen, the team would have to realize their full potential, which NEVER happens. Even though I don't see either team making the playoffs, I'd take old Bryant, Gasol, Kaman and old Nash over Bradley, 80% sophomore Sullinger, Green, and 65% Rondo (considering he's out for 25% of the year, then another 10% off to account for the uncertainty as to whether or not he'll immediately have full impact).

You can criticize Ainge all you like, but you have to recognize the lose-lose aspect of this situation from Danny's perspective. If he kept those two, the Cs would have been bad for years. If he traded them, he would have been seen as a traitor, despite the fact that Ray and Doc walked first (and don't give me any of their excuses for leaving).

Face the facts. Danny never had the luxury of gutting every Celtic except for Pierce after 2008 for salary cap reasons like Cuban did with the Mavs after 2011, leaving Dirk and Dirk alone in hopes of luring Williams, Paul or Howard. Now that it didn't work out, it's funny how he's viewed as loyal because he drove the Mavs into the ground trying to get a superstar and was fortunate enough that his plan included Dirk. Mark Cuban was never thinking sentimentality when he kept Dirk and no one else. He was looking for the best way to win another ring, just like Danny is now. Celtics fans can surely tell you hindsight is 20/20, and I can't help but think Cuban wishes he traded Dirk back in 2011, when he waved goodbye to Dallas' version of Ray Allen and KG in a heartbeat, just a year removed from winning Cuban's long coveted championship ring. The NBA is cold, man. Those loyal are only found to be so because of dumb luck.

What would you rather have Danny do? Rondo is NOT a number one player. Your number one player by definition needs to be a constant scoring threat, which Rondo alone is not. Even if he is the most skilled on a team, he will never be a number one for that reason.

As for the rest of our young talent pool, there is something to be said about each of Bradley, Sullinger and Green but again, none of them will ever be number ones. Bradley is perhaps the league's best perimeter defender; aside from that, he's average. Sully could be a double double machine in the future; but he's not going to be posting 25/12 and running the break. Green could very well average 17 ppg as early as next season; but he lacks a definable position and, given his age, enough upside to be considered a future number one. It's a superstar league. Danny's doing his best to try to get one in a draft compared to the superstar loaded draft of 2003.

Rondo is an unbelievable talent and if I could pair him with Green, Sully and say, Jabari Parker I absolutely would. But there's no way that the Celtics are a bad enough team, with Rondo playing, to secure a high enough lottery pick in order to get that superstar. Rondo will never be the number one (again, not necessarily the most SKILLED) on a contending team; a guy like Parker, Wiggins, Julius Randle, etc. could be. If we've already gutted the heart and soul of the KG era, are you really going to sit here and picket for us to be an eighth seed for four more years?
