that is great advice and lovely answer.

I would agree completely...
to keep on trying - after all, success usually is not overnight.
but also, to not be afraid if there are set-backs: perhaps these also are saying, 'well how about doing what you what this way'.
for example, i am perhaps going to change from environment policy, to environment conservation/gardening. its significant, but subtle ;o)

many things do set back the courage, esteem and drive to follow one's dream... and that is why by asking yourself "how far are you able to go in the path of your dreams" ... will you be "capable of answering that question will you be able to move forward. "

because i decided i have a great passion for the environment, but perhaps i am wanting a closer activity involving the environment with mind/body and soul... rather than living a life battling out environmental policy with stubborn, ignorant economists/politicians...
ie: environmental policy takes me far on a tangent from what it REALLY means in my books to be involved IN environmental work.

sometimes there is no sacrifice necessary.... we can achieve all without.
and in other circumstances, well i just am not cut out to be wielding the knife and sacrificing my own health/mind for the environment...

its a ruthless truth... but ok to step back and resolve this important truth in one's own heart. after all, it's life.. not a dress rehearsal play.

flee or fight!
no longer fearing your own self-worth or doubt; or whatever else is lurking in the depths ready to deduct from your life vitality.
My life now is much more 'moving'.. no longer static in fear, doubt, hesitation etc... because one is able to trust one's own instinct completely.

The concept from which the idea of our Council emerged is called “The Circle of Law”.

The Circle of Law
There are indigenous peoples who offer us a model of community that resonates with Embercombe’s mission; to touch hearts and minds, “inspiring committed action for a truly sustainable world”.

Imagine a circle of people. Around the circle sit representatives from each of the groups making up the tribe; from hunters and War Chiefs to artists, singers and poets. Around this circle also sit representatives from the mothers and the young people who straddle childhood to adulthood. Imagine that, for each of these represented groups sit two people; one woman, one man - female balancing male - the equal democratic representation of all peoples comprising the community.

In the centre of the Council Circle burns a small fire - the Children's Fire. The Children's Fire keeps the Council mindful of the tribe's children as they deliberate on issues important to the tribe. Looking after the fire and guiding the Council's process are four elders; two women and two men. These four wise elders have no voting rights but posses the power of veto and guide the process of the council. They, too, are selected by democratic vote within the tribe.

Such communities did once exist,- a very few may still

Hello...
if you were living in England or Uk generally, I would highlight the transition networks that are taking place in many towns...
i just went to one such meeting in Totnes last evening... for Totnes Is a transition town.. and there are many people who are part of a network to change heart, soul, health, wellbeing, livelihoods, economics, government, and many other themes..
it really was inspiring ....
and you know it makes you thankful that finally something IS happening.

I really caught sight of what you were talking about, through this sentence.

As with the fine line between what is considered noteworthy [persistence & courage]; compared to what is reckless and stubborn....
our lives are so caught adn bounded by forces often beyond ourselves... and this can be suffocating.

I have no superpowers... but can appreaciate there are those who do incredible - almost unbelievable - acts.
I only know that acting without fear has taken me further than I could have imagined... and when acting from a place of fear... that distance is severed.

love of learning/ growing spiritually

love for my family
love to give to others

and that is as far set in stone that my personal legend might reach for now...
until i discover the ultimate destination in this life i am seeking to find..!!
but I happen to be at a crossroads...

I've considered fairly seriously teaching, environmental work, international development, freelance art & design, gardening, wildlife officer, writer for children, old person carer, and a couple of other things ;o)

I stay often at my father's whose family has lived in the Lothians for many years now... and I never knew or was aware of this history of witchery until reading on Coelho's blog.

however, it is common in the history of Britain for witches and stories of torture... and hey, it went on to the USA too ;o(

I think it is necessary to explain something of the nature of town councils, and organisation for the wording of "granting of pardon" to be explained...
for ideally, the council representatives are guardians for the physical, material welfare etc of their community [its past, present and future] ... and so they represent the process of granting a pardon, but certainly not the people. It was the system that created the mistake, and so the council make as pardon as modern day reps of that system.

personally i think that the system is in fact wrong for so many things: ultimately it is the male-dominated one and manages to exclude the feminine.. squeezing it out. It is a matter of control and order that has gotten out of hand... so much so, that today, as you say Paulo, those individuals who seem to deviate from the 'set norm' are discredited and worse, becoming suffocated in spirit.

I will reread the history of the story.. then have a better impression to comment.

UFOs - Unidentified Flying Objects

so we are talking objects that are not reognised on the flying radar by air control, ie: flight number with flight path registered; or maybe objects resisting to being identified, registered with flight control?

Yet i think it goes further than this.

I personally know little about UFOs and of course in the UK we talk about crop circles sometimes in the same discussion.
However, I have to believe in them .. because of two issues:
1st] as you say Paulo, there is, I believe a greater likelihood that life exists in the vast universe, other than our own. This is not some fantasy just inspired by my love of the Star Wars movies neither ;o)
2nd] My father, his mother and my mother and my uncle all describe an experience, or two where they have witnessed something of an UFO quality. The usual feature and essence being the nature of the speed and ability to move as a vessel: the object defies our normal understanding of gravity and movement.

Taking lead from the motorcycle visible on the shelves behind Mr. Paulo in the above video clip..
my grandmother recalls on any occasion pressed for 'dinner party stories' her experience on a road travelling north to her rural home in Scotland; where she [and car passenger] observed some two riders on a mobile object [described by my grandmother as a motorbike with wings] travelling along this road also... this was perhaps 40 years ago now... ;o)
On another car journey she and a passenger passed some flashing multi light object resting in a field beside the road... and slowing to take a look.. they carried on without stopping to get a better understanding!!
my father witnessed, along with a whole amphi-theatre audience some aerial object covering the skies in the Middle east i think in the 1990s.
My mother describes an evening in mid August during the 1970s when, in need of fresh cool air during a hot summer, she had been opening the window and leaning out of her childhood home. She sighted some bright object following a line of trees [which knowing the area well, was an avenue of trees perhaps just a short distance from the farm house]... and she describes how it was moving very slowly along, then seemed to stop and hover just above the line of trees. OK, nothing inexplanable... however, it is when she then describes how this bright object suddenly accelerated upwards and was able to be out of sight in mere seconds... [so steep an ascent that my mother was leaning right out to witness the movement].. that she realised that this was some alternative object being observed.

Personally, I HAVE to believe in UFOs because indeed I would be otherwise discrediting four important people in my life whose authority and beliefs, trustworthness et al.. I support and have faith in. Ultimately, I trust their judgement and honesty as a witness.
However, personally I would rather NOT encounter any UFO form thanks. I reserve wish to maintain the mystery thanks ;o)
But my third line of thought that has emerged towards UFOs is that
I believe that these 'bodies of energy' are in some way visible to us through parallel universes.. maybe that is a poor way to explain.. but that the energy is almost a product of possibilities where in fact journeys have led so far, but been unable to manifest in Earth/human evolution...
I guess the closest i could describe would be how poltageists are manifested where young teenagers with intense, intense emotions are channelled into something that causes a change in the universe: in this case the forming of a poltageist.
I tell you, i don't know enough of the subject.

However, it still bemuses me why on my 30th birthday family party, the story of my mums UFO sighting was brought up as a topic of discussion by my brother with my mother.
Out of all the possible options... and we go into spooky talk. !

there's a young boy who acts in the film Australia - he's the only human being i have seen who has emanated the sort of quality which when i read The Alchemist, I hoped to have kept safe and sound in my life.
He's magical ;o)
