The second half is likely to be quite a bit more compelling now that things are starting to come together. I think in time, this second season will be regarded more kindly than it is right now, in the long shadow of the opening season.

Just loved what the actors brought to that firefight sequence. Taylor Kitsch's character, pretty much a lost, misguided zombie in normal life, totally comes alive in the shootout, acting with military-like precision and decisiveness and quite literally saving his partners' lives. In contrast, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams' character progressively become totally overwhelmed as the situation worsens, to the point of being almost non-functional. Great scene!

Overall, I loved this movie until the all-too-neat and terribly generic ending (and I think the CGI comes up a bit short in the end there). It's smartly staged and edited so we are not wasting time despite the repetitive nature of the narrative. Emily Blunt was great, tough as nail and yet bringing enough vulnerability to suggest more depth to the movie than one would expect. I pretty much wish she was the main character instead. And hey, not too many movies manage to make me guffaw!! :)

Yea this almost borders on a caricature of Malick's style and the trailer for The Tree of Life. Still looking forward to see this movie but the mixed reviews have tempered my expectations somewhat...

I actually found this movie to be really enthralling and much more scary than the vast majority of horror movies.

Yea I totally trust Day Lewis to have done his research when it comes to everything about Abe Lincoln. People who are questioning his high pitched voice obviously are just reflecting their own expectations of what they thought Lincoln should sound like. I have no idea whether this will be a good/great movie but it should be a must-watch nonetheless, given DDL's presence.

Horror movies being not scary. I guess that's an anemic issue these days. It takes a lot more to truly terrify people than loud noises and sudden jumps.

Nice list but not really sure what timeframe you are applying as some if not most of the picks maybe were bankable many years ago but aren't nearly as much these days while obviously, K-Stew has been the opposite.

I posted a really long list of all the issues back when the movie came out but here are a few:
- You see Jeremy Renner and his pals driving around Baghdad by themselves like it's Kansas City. This would absolutely NEVER happen in real life. A group of 4 vehicles or more would be the strict minimum for the men's safety

- You see the three men securing entire buildings and streets all by themselves. In real life, there would be dozens if not hundreds of soldiers to do that for them.

- You see cars and potential hostiles drive up to the American soldiers like it's nothing. In real life, all these people would be shot to pieces, civilians or hostiles, if they were to be that foolish.

- You see Anthony Mackie pick up a 50 cal rifle and start lighting up insurgents a mile away like he's done that all his life. These guys are supposedly EOD experts, he would have no clue how to properly use that weapon

- The 50 cal jams because there is a bit of blood on the bullets? LOL

- Jeremy Renner ventures into Baghdad by himself at night and actually makes it back alive. This would never happen in real life. He would likely be dead if he tried, either by insurgents or by friendly fire while creeping around the perimeter.

- The three fools start chasing insurgents in the alleys of Baghdad, all by themselves!!!! AHAHAH Do that in real life and it's a guaranteed no-return ticket

- Jeremy Renner walks back into the base and there is absolutely consequence to his folly...

- And seriously, Jeremy Renner cowboy's attitude? In real life, his men would have shot him rather than risk their lives going outside the perimeter with him.

In terms of military situations depicted, it wasn't. The movie has long been derided among servicemen for its complete lack of realism. Basically nothing that happened in the movie would have happened in real life.

I was really disappointed by the lack of realism in The Hurt Locker and I really hope Bigelow won't fail to address the issue in this movie or it's going to be atrocious. Not much to go on at this point with this teaser so not much else to say...

Oh! I really want to check this out. I love Japanese mangas and I'm definitely intrigued by the premise of this movie. I will keep an eye out for this.

Interesting analysis David. Certainly something to look for in James Cameron's movies. But I guess this is derived from the fact that he likes to have strong female characters in his films.
