We knew before we were married we wanted 7 or 8, and we were blessed with 9. We were open to more, except my varicose veins began to get worse, and I had to stay off my feet as much as possible during my last pregnancy... So, we had to stop. Some people may think it strange, but it took me 2 years to "grieve" over not having any more... Thankfully my husband was very understanding during those times when I'd well up. But now I'm enjoying this new season!

Re: Ask MckMama Anything...a LIVE chat...with prizes!

That would be SO COOL - Florida is sunny this time of year and we have a big place that is great for get-togethers (hint, hint)!!!! LOL :-)

Re: Ask MckMama Anything...a LIVE chat...with prizes!

Hello, again - I was wondering if there is a way to subscribe to your blog via email that I've missed somewhere? Perhaps someone else could answer this. After my crew is in bed I enjoy catching up on a few blogs...

Thanks again for your blog - I enjoy it, and your style of writing has encouraged me to let my goofy side out on my blog a bit more. :-)

Re: Ask MckMama Anything...a LIVE chat...with prizes!

Howdy! Finally I think none of my children are making any noise, and here I stumble across my first live chat!

So, MckMama - what's your favorite/least favorite thing about living in the country?

Re: She's here!!!

What a blessing! (And a relief!) My husband and I saw this recently and he was laughing so hard we had to keep "rewinding" because we couldn't hear! My mom would also comment that her typewriter was faster - she used to be one of those super-fast shorthand-writing, 100wpm on a typewriter, secretaries...

Re: The Lord GIVETH & TAKETH away

Personally, I always found it easier to just, um, shove the pills down the dogs' throats. (The fancy "how to give a pill" illustration in dog books.) Much faster. Done. On to bon bons.. And...Dogs that come with a return policy are the BEST!

I took a blogging break, came back and voila! I'm sure you feel better! I know that for me, it helps me SO MUCH to know that I am not alone in feeling exhausted and stretched like silly-putty - all thin and distorted. Praise God that HE is in control of all of this (I have to say that to myself a lot some day...) Blessings to you and yours!

Re: How was your day? A giveaway!

I was blessed and humbled by 3 friends (2 of them with their daughters) who drove 2 hours to come and visit me. I hadn't seen them in 5 years. One was the "honorable maiden" in my wedding - all of them I knew before I met my husband - so that means 18 years! One has fibromyalgia and another has had manic-depression for years - thankfully they had a "good" day when they came to visit. Their daughters were precious, and my children had a great time with them. They were only able to stay 4 hours... After they left, I crashed on the couch for 2 hours - my children watched a movie then went outside when they saw I was still sleeping. Supper was way late, but my husband was so calm even after a 12-hour workday. Days like that are just amazing - and I thank God for them!

Re: The Pleated Poppy {Giveaway}

I think the crayon roll is the neatest little thing!

Re: AMAZING GIVEAWAY!!

I would love a gift certificate - thanks for the opportunity!

Re: I like to move it, move it.

Central vac ROCKS! Here's a fun thing if you want to keep your children busy for a while... My children discovered they can go in different rooms and talk to each other through the van connection outlets. It's hilarious! (And much better than the other game they invented which I promptly squashed - talking around corners through the 30 foot hose... who's watching these children anyway?!)

Re: I'm a Mom

Here we go - 156 hours of labor, 78 pounds of 9 little humans, and pregnant for a total of 7 years! And how I *miss* those long breaks from my cycles...arg!

You've probably seen that cartoon where the husband comes home to a messy yard, messy children, and his wife still in her pajamas. He asks, "What happened?!" She answers, "You know how you're always coming home and asking me what I did today? Well, today I didn't do it!"

Re: Do the Duggar's have too many children?

Just popped over to skim a few of the earlier comments, and someone mentioned longing for the day when hatred would cease. Reminded me of a song my husband found and loves - it applies. FWIW

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

So many people, when they see we have 9 children, say, "I have only" whatever number. Hubby again came up with the statement which we always use now - "With children, there is NO such thing as "only" - whether you have one or 12!"

At the end of all things, each of us will stand before God, not before anyone else, and give an account. There are so many exhortations in scripture to unity, harmony, and to avoid vain disputations. Easy to read, impossible to do in and of ourselves.

May God by His grace and Spirit work in each of our hearts according to His perfect will.

Re: My First Vlog (A.K.A. Great job! My oldest (14yo girl) said, and she said I may quote her, "I, for one, would NEVER do that! Well, maybe if it didn't have an UDDER - that's disgusting! Although, it WAS in the right place, but needed to be more bulgy, and pinker..." LOL! We have milking goats, so she's an expert, at least on the two-teated variety of udder-full animals. Way to go!

Re: MckMama answers!

Yay! You ARE in the country! And in a red house... that's enough information for me! Kudos for keeping as much privacy as possible! Great to hear the children are adjusting well, and that the new bedtime routine is working out - whew, that can be SO stressful when it doesn't. Yay for homeschooling! It's a never-ending adventure!
Have a GREAT day,
Kimarie

Re: WFMW-Some Fabulous Organizing Tools

Ooooh, the Lego organizers at Complete Organizing Solutions were fantastic! My husband was working 2 jobs, with a venture on the side, when the part-time job cut his hours in half, and the venture's market dropped off. Hmmm! It was an agonizing time - then hubby put a job posting in front of me that he hadn't wanted to do before. I was shocked, and began to hope. One thing led to another over a few months, then finally he was hired. A few months later the company instituted a hiring freeze! Talk about being placed right there at the end of a window of opportunity - with a job that perfectly fits. We are still praising God, and what a blessing to have my husband come home nearly every day and say, "I love my job!"

Of course, it's easy for me to say this now, but ever since the pic of you and your husband driving back from some long trip with interesting thoughts - I was thinking, "They're considering moving!" Hope it's out in the country a bit!

Blessings,
Kimarie

Re: into superheroes

How cool - love the expression on his face! My oldest boy (now a new 13) was SO into Larry Boy when he was younger! What memories. My other boys (10 and 9) now wear camo, strap on their helmets, and save their sisters from dastardly spiders and other creepy crawly critters. I think the louder the girls scream, the happier the heroes are!
Blessings,
Kimarie

Re: WFMW-My Favorite Parenting Tool

What a GREAT idea! I got rid of my baby monitors over a year ago because I wanted to sleep. But now... with my children 2,4,6,7,9,10,11,12,14... they will come in handy for those times when they slip off to the "outer Siberia" portions of the house. I can hear what's going on as I march down there... It's made mostly with items you can just keep on hand and assemble - so you'll like it! :-) It's also very pretty!

You can see it at http://www.cardamomspod.com...

Blessings, Kimarie

Re: {Don't} Break A Leg

My second daughter (now 11) broke her collarbone when she was 5. She was riding on a spirited steed (her older sister) who reared up, dumping her rider onto carpet. Since she was/is a bit of a drama queen we didn't take her until she still wasn't moving her shoulder, ahem, 2 days later...

My 4th daughter (now 6) broke two fingers in her palm last year. She was right next to me - did a little 5-year-old dance like they do, and somehow landed on her own hand! Let's just say I'm surprised she hadn't broken any bones before this...

And may I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend waterproof casts?! It was a breeze to just give my 5 year old a bath each night, let the neon-pink cast drain, and use a hair dryer on it if it didn't dry out fast enough - it was usually fine in 15 minutes. Because, of course, the day after she got her cast she was digging in the dirt...

And I broke my second toe when I was younger - fell off the balance beam in gymnastics. Didn't know it was broken till I smashed my pinky toe against a heavy couch and had x-rays taken. Pinky was fine, the doctor showed me the crooked toe... so THAT'S why it hurt for weeks...

Re: Not Me!
