It didn't really have 'developments' though. It rehashed old ideas, old 'growths' Deadpool already went through...and then went onto the next 'arc'.

It wasn't just that it was a boring retread, it was an unnecessary dumbing down of the character.

Doesn't help that the stories and characterizations were godawful as well.

Consider that the closest we had to Deadpool showing any depth during the entirety of Waypool's run, was when Deadpool was on Uncanny X-Force and showing remorse for the dead kid bit.

The entirety of Way's run Deadpool, even when he wanted to be accepted on the x-men, even the doctor Bong stuff, nothing was given any seriousness or attempts to make the character seem less like a giant manchild hyped up on coke and piss. It was silly to be silly.

Didn't help that Way didn't know the character's names (Weasel referring to Al as "Blind Al"? Really man?) or their basic motivations. It was akin to really, really bad fanfiction.

I don't believe we've met so I'll keep it short:

Way doesn't know the basics of writing a story, structure, atmosphere, etc. He writes 'jokes' and makes plot elements around them. That is it.

Waypool, which is basically saying 'screw continuity, character depth and development' in favor of 'lawl i'm randumb!' is the worst kind of character. Ever.

Taking a character with interesting emotions, complexities, dreams and desires, and dumping that for 'HAHAH I DID A SILLY THING WITH A GUN! I'M SO WACKY AREN'T I?!" is beyond shallow. It's not even schlocky entertainment.

You're free to enjoy Waypool as much as you want, but some people, like myself, sigh and roll our eyes at Waypool because it turned a My Little Pony/Family Guy Dad pastiche into "Deadpool' for some 70 odd issues of badly written half assed 'adventures'.

Just so's you know where we're coming from, those of us that say "Waypool makes me so angry I want to stab my balls (or whatever reproductive parts you have) with a fork".

If it's the same script that was released a few years ago, then s'long as they 'update' it (seriously, using DMX Up In Here for fight music? Really?) then should be worth a watch.

Have James Gunn hop ships over to Fox and direct this. Seems right up his alley.

Yes, so obviously that icky mean sad stuff shouldn't be touched upon and only have happy thoughts!

Your idealism is nice but incredibly self centered.

People fearing new technology is nothing new and will not stop with the elimination of any genre of fiction you can think of.

However your focus on 'let's create and make good things' is a great thing in some respects, the complete denial of base and horrible things leads to ignorance. I'm not saying we need stories where nanotechnology becomes sentient and hunt people for sport, I'm saying that stories that do touch upon mankind's vile actions are needed, if not just to make people aware.

With your ideology Mel Brooks shouldn't have made Blazing Saddles because that would be a bad thing instead of *just* making a happy movie about a black sheriff. Thankfully, Mel Brooks made a brilliant satire in which pointing out people's blatant racism became a masterpiece.

Of course, the idea that *any* genre of fiction should be 'left alone and never touched upon' is a silly fanaticism. A proper balance where utopian and dystopian fiction can both illuminate and or satirize or even just really great pulp fictiony goodness shines through and gives us a fun little read is what we should strive for.

Oh yeah, abandon an entire genre because it spooks out ignorant people. I mean why would you want to tell a story using a setting (hopefully with an interesting spin) when you could tell happy stories and attempt to make people feel *good*.

Or, OR you could write a story, with or without a message, creative or rehashed crap, and enjoy yourself.

You know, like a writer. Or you could settle and just be a blogger with sensationalist headlines, whatever works.
