Why are Republican members of Congress balking at the appointment of a special prosecutor or the creation of a commission to get to the bottom of the Russia connections to the Trump campaign and administration? Shouldn't Americans know what those connections were and what was said in those conversations?

Lobbying can be helpful to lawmakers by informing them of a law's unintended consequences or putting forward a first draft bill. However, when lobbyists provide money, gift travel or other things of value to one or more legislators along with recommended legislation, that's conflict of interest corruption and should by treated as such and punished by criminal law. Unfortunately, in today's climate of impunity, it is not.

For the record, I respect both Jewish people (both in America and in Israel) and the State of Israel. I am proud that my Jewish friends call me "an honorary Jew." At the same time, I deplore the Netanyahu government's disrespect of Palestinian rights and the Israel lobby's purchase of American political leaders.

For the record, I unequivocally reject this comment as racist and not in keeping with my article. To oppose Israel's denial of Palestinian rights is not a denial of Israel's legitimate standing as a nation. Nor is it in any way anti-Jewish.

Despite Israeli claims, it was the Israeli's who invaded Gaza and started the war. How can one ignore the great disparity of fatalities (mostly civilians including more than 500 children)?

The fact that the US has violated Article 51 in the past does indeed weaken it as an international law norm. But that doesn't make further violations right (or "legal"). Article 51 remains a part of the UN Charter.
In my view the "armed attack" standard is the only correct one. To encourage preemptive strikes on the basis of opposing country armament or threats opens the door to escalating war (as it did for the US in Iraq). A civilized society must encourage engagement and diplomacy over military action. Instead of rattling sabers, why doesn't Israel offer to dismantle its nuclear plant and subject itself to full International Atomic Energy Agency scrutiny if Iran would do likewise? Such action might jumpstart regional non-proliferation.

Even declared threats do not amount to "armed attack," the requirement of Article 51 of the UN Charter, now part of US law, to justify defensive action.

All the current media saber-rattling is creating an increasing momentum towards war. Where are the forces to restrain those who would repeat the errors of Iraq and Afghanistan? Where are those with common sense and decency enough who will speak out?

A war against Iran would not only be immoral aggression, but would mark the end of legitimacy in international law.

Outrageous! The murder of 24 Iraqi civilians results in only one plea bargain conviction and a maximum sentence of three months. If this this is American justice one can understand the hatred of the US that it is bound to engender in Iraq and elsewhere. Coming on top of Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib and extraordinary rendention, such a travesty of justice is not a surprise.

Why not change the job corps mandate to enlist corporate pre-commitments of jobs to persons trained for those jobs? This is the model used with effect in 6 Middle East countries by the nonprofit Education For Employment Foundation (EFE). A similar model has been successful developed in several US cities by the nonprofit Year Up.

We have more than 3 million unfilled jobs. The companies should be enlisted to help pay for the training and to hire those who successfully graduate.

What gall! That the Prince of evil Blackwater would threaten legal action against a Congresswoman who rightly questions the wisdom of outsourcing mercenaries is a travesty. Erik Prince and Blackwater are the ones who should be in the dock. Instead, they seem to enjoy limitless impunity.
