In the screen shot with the Yachts, you can't really see any content other than the small blurbs under the images. Maybe there's more if you scroll down. It does have nav links though which is better than what our client has. Our client simply has two options when you hit their home page: Member & Non-Member. No other nav links/content/etc. and that's hurting their SEO big time.

Re: Why Offering Choices on Your Website Is Killing Your Conversion Rate

Great article. The only thing I don't agree with is the "Home page" options. This kills SEO and makes it hard for your site to rank high. We have a client that does this home page choice for "members" and "non-members" and their site is well below our other clients' sites because there's no *content* on the home page.

Re: Engadget Giveaway: win one of four Nexus 7 tablets, courtesy of NVIDIA!

Boom. The information holds true still even though I wrote it quite a long time ago.

The . before a tweet is used because people are starting their tweet with an @{username} and they want all their followers to see it. For example, if you start a tweet with @CantonDog only you, me and anyone following *both* of us would see it because Twitter treats that as a "reply". If you add a . before the @ (or any character) then Twitter treats that as a "mention" and will show it to all your followers.

As far as direct messages (DM), you can only DM a person who is following you. That's a Twitter rule.

Hope this helps! Happy tweeting.

Re: Top 7 Twitter Commands Everyone Should Know

If you don't want to follow someone, it's as easy as visiting their profile (or clicking their username in you timeline) and clicking "unfollow". If there is someone who you think is posting spam, you can report them for spam (which will also block that user from your timeline).

Re: .val()

Damn... Keep in mind though, that if you're following a big account they may not @ back. In fact, I think when Twitter was still in private beta, there wasn't even an @. @{username} was something the users started doing and Twitter integrated it into their system. So that's why there's no "list". However, if you look at the little box under your Following/Followers/Tweets, you'll sometimes see a Twitter definition there.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Chad Ochocinco to Fly Twitter Fans to NFL Games

He is a great entertainer. And I can't wait to see where this goes. If it soars or flops...it will still get national (and most likely a lot of tv) coverage. The problem is, the NFL doesn't like messages they can't control. This should be interesting.

Re: The US Government Is Going Google

It's interesting. You have to be friends with someone (or a fan of a page) which is really different than Twitter.

Plus, even if you're a fan of a page, that page can't @ you. So I guess you could say it's like @mentions "light". It's pretty restrictive at the moment.

Re: 10 People You Won’t See on Twitter Anymore

I'd love it for Twitter to crack down on the sales people that are just trying to get you to buy their worthless marketing crap. Gamers seem to always be one step ahead of the system though. There's just too many of "them" to not come up with something different each time the TOS changes. I hope I'm wrong though.

Re: Ochocinco to NFL: I Found Twitter Loopholes!

I understand the NFL wanting to 'protect their brand' (and by that I include the gambling industry), but Ochocinco is an entertainer...I can't wait to see what he's got planned.

Re: TomTom for iPhone Released [Video]

I'm also wondering if you can get the other voices with this too?
