I guess 22News must think that the Springfield area has moved to Boston. Two out of three top "Local" news stories focus on Boston... Shouldn't those stories be under State headlines. Hopefully somebody around here (Springfield area) kills somebody or gets killed, or maybe has their house blow up so yo will have some local news to report...

Ooh, ooh!!! Mr politician, I have to take a crap! Is it okay? My wife is in our only bathroom and she is taking too long! Can you pass a bill that I can fine the home builder for not building enough bathrooms in the house?

PLEASE! Like the others have said, it took years to build our power grid. Just because mother nature can take it down in an instant, doesn't mean that utility companies can rebuilt it in a day!!! This idea is nothing more the some ignorant ass trying to make a name for himself....

The stores did not increase the cost. As soon as Congress passed this most recent hike (62 cents), the distributors took it upon themselves to institute the hike immediately and put the money in their pocket. Then, on April 1, 2009, they would then shift the 62 cents to the government... So, stores in Massachusetts should not me increasing the cost of cigarettes today. Other tobacco products, (cigars, tobacco. an etc) WILL see a 40 percent increase as of today.... So yes it is all ridiculous...

It hurts me to see Ford dropping like they are. Of the "Big Three" here in the states, it seems to me that Ford is trying the hardest to make it on its own. They have yet to beg the government for cash to survive. They successfully got the union to back down a bit and make some concessions. I hope things pick up for them...

Lets talk about money. I am going to discuss something that most people don’t like… Department of Corrections’ Budget. The DOC budgets $1.00 per inmate, per meal, per day. I know someone who did time in Gardner who worked in the kitchen. The food director was often heard bragging about how he was able to feed the population for $30,000.00 a month. Gardner holds about 1,000 inmates. That comes out to about $1.00 per inmate per day for all three meals! While I understand that most people don’t care that the inmates don’t get the full allowance the funds that are budgeted, we should care that $60,000.00 is being pocketed every month by people in the DOC.

The same holds true for clothing, and linen. The budget call for inmates to receive a clothing and linen allowance. The DOC only hands out about 1/3 of what it have received tax dollars for. The remainder of the money is going into someone’s pocket.

Bottom line: Our politicians need to be held accountable for all of the tax dollars that are spent!

OMG! I never would have guessed! Boy, Thank GOD that we have been informed!!! Now what is to be done? I miss the days when a phone was a phone. Cell phones were an expensive luxury that made me a lot of commission as a Radio Shack employee. Now, there are a nuisance. The web, texting, sexting, cameras, games, and etc... Too much. We need to go back to adults owning them. Kids, and certainly teenage drivers don't need all this fancy stuff stuck in today's phones. I don't have the answer... but I would support a good one...

Springfield is so worried about being known as the "pot smoking city", that they haven't put enough effort into getting rid of their current moniker... "Springfield's Nightlife: It will kill ya..."

Maybe they should institute a fee for each round that is fired without proper licensing... Springfield would no longer have financial troubles...

Good job Jackie. Let me fill you in on something. Often times people are happy with their frames and just want to replace the lenses. That is when the eye glass providers hit you off with " We can not use your existing frames because they are over a year old and may be too brittle, and we can not guarantee them so you must buy new frames..."

So there goes your savings... I have had frames in the past for over 5 years and never had a problem... It is a scam.

My God, these companies just don't get it. When these bailouts began, I believed they were necessary. Needless to say, I have changed my mind. If you are about to go under and the government bails your ass out, YOU DO NOT PAY YOUR PEOPLE BONUSES!!!. I always believed bonuses were paid for a job ell done. Doesn't make me sad. These people can earn $65K and more standing at a counter and often times are rude to the customers... As usual, these gov't workers are overpaid and under-worked... I often see delivery trucks parked in coffee shops and such. While I agree they are entitled to breaks, should they last for two and half hours? Cut the fat. I've said this before...The US is too lazy, too greedy, and too apathetic. We need change. We are falling on our ass and are quickly getting to the point of no return.
