You can make the same argument for Desura but at least I have some freedom.

BTW, I don't really give a shit what devs feel is easy to do. Making software entirely cross platform isn't exactly easy. Then again making software for only one platform isn't going to help linux because we are on the bottom of the food chain. So, linux only is probably not going to happen to often (yes there is that one game). This means that arguing how many platforms to support really isn't even a point.

Re: Desura’s Gem

Did you read my post? I didn't install via .deb, and no game should every be a .deb, mainly because it puts game data in a location I don't want it.

Re: Desura’s Gem

Don't use the ubuntu software center over desura if for no other reason then portability. Linux is already a strong alternative to Windows; the humble indie bundled showed that.

Personally, I don't think playing the exclusivity card is what Linux is all about. Linux is not a snooty night club for douche bags. We might as well install Windows if we are going to use the same tactics we hate against them. This even screws over our Mac cousins. They deserve games too.

Re: Announcing Project Bossanova

Exclusive as in the only one on linux or Exclusive as in ONLY on linux? The 2nd would be stupid and counter productive to linux. Also if we are doing this is C/C++, we can cheat a little and use preprocessor directives to eliminate the all the overhead. I'm pretty sure we could also use a inline static functions. To me, this is like writing a CUDA program. They are freaking amazing, but you have to have some way for the other percentage of users to use your program as well. (they added x86 support WOoooo) Then again, the compiler could already be inserting code for when SSE is not there IDK. I'v always assumed it didn't.

Re: SIMD optimization - Wolfire Games Blog

This is such a pain in the ass though. To retain your sanity, you basically make a abstract class with all the instructions you want. Then, implement both the SIMD and normal instruction classes. (NOTE Im paranoid that SOMEONE wont have a simd enabled processor) FINALLY, make a factory to decide which class to use. This is cool, but when the compiler optimizes it into your code its fucking fantastic.

Re: Dropbox Givaway | Ubuntu Root

Woot 5x the POWA!!!

Re: Rhythmbox finally gets the update Maverick testers have longed for…

Anyone else think we should add a new button (or make the close button different .. like a circle or something) for applications that only hide when closed?

Re: OpenGL update - Wolfire Games Blog

I still wish they would just suck it up and make an OOP wrapper so that all the people complaining about that would shut up.
