Hi guys, definitely wasn't photoshop. I saw it on both desktop and mobile, mobile was just easiest to screenshot and post to twitter at the time. I am based in Brisbane, but had a work colleague in Sydney who confirmed he saw the same thing when searching. Barry, just an FYI but this was obviously on google.com.au, which may have been the reason you couldn't replicate. Was probably up for a few hours before disappearing.

Interestingly enough, this doesn't seem to have spread to their international sites... in Australia, for example, they still have a very strong presence in the SERPs.

Hey Chris,
Please take this in the spirit with which it's meant (because I am totally down with pretty much this whole post) BUT...
It got me thinking to why people would have been up in arms about the cost of $47 for a Google+ "tutorial". Looking from my point of view, it might not have actually been the cost (although that might have been the tipping point for a lot of people), but more probably the initial resistance was set by the speed with which you got this out there. I know that - as the landing page states - you've logged 250+ hours in G+, but really, it's still so new... still so much in its infancy people may have resisted the "authority" implication of the sell.

Get where I'm coming from?

If I remember correctly, John Chow worked to make his site compliant with guidelines. Not a "whitelist" from Google at all, just a matter of making his site "clean".

Agree with Zac and Nathan... blogging in the "industry", for the most part, seemed to be used to get business. As freelance stuff dried up, more people headed into the "employee" role; which either a) dampened their motivation for consistently posting, or b) hampered their freedom to post due to employer restrictions or c) left them with abso-friggin-lutely no free time anymore.

Sorry, simply can't agree here. Just from the tweets you've captured above:
a) the offer of the troubleshooting tool was helpful, in my opinion.
b) "We want to be helpful where we can, if your console is indeed under an extended warranty you can have it repaired free" - seems helpful to me.
c) In fact, I found almost all the tweets you offered fairly helpful, although towards the end the frustration perhaps takes over. But up until that point it looks, to me, like they were acting reasonably.

I think the issue here is that you're too close to it. If you could step back, you might see things from a different point of view :)

I totally agree, I really DO need to listen to some of the new stuff from SA; the thing is, a lot of it is hard to get out here in Australia (seeing as I've been in Aus for close on 5 years now!). If any South African bands want to send some stuff my way for review though, I'm more than happy to take a look at it.

That said, in response to your mentions: Fuzigish have been mentioned numerous times above over the years, and every time, I say the same thing: "I know, I know, but I had to end the list SOMEWHERE!" :P
Also, I'll point out that since this list, I've mentioned both aKing (see this post: "Stop the presses. aKING is South Africa’s next big thing." from 2008, and more recently I mentioned Die Antwoord here: "Die Antwoord... Can't tell you how proud I am of these guys".

I'll definitely need to take a look into your other mentions though... new names to me there!
