I knew it, no wonder the screening was cancelled for America... Its not top notch material. Even Mortal kombat came to theaters, I remember because I went to see it with my friends long ago. For Tekken, I did see this movie... and I was waiting for you guys here to review it first, before saying anything. You're right, the film does have its good/bad. All I got to say is, the movie could had been better. For some of the actors who played their characters, they did do a surprising good job. To what we see in the film, like what Albert said, its a post-apocalyptic world, and the Tekken Corp. has taken over, and we see very limited stuff... I think thats just a dumb excuse to show off what the filmmakers used their budget on in the film, the very limited sets... thats about it. They were probably tight on money. What I hate is, everything in the film, is tekken this, tekken that, but then thats because of the idea of tekken taken over the world or whatever. The writers didn't really do their homework. Who ever wrote the script, isn't a hardcore tekken fan or maybe isn't one at all, and its probably just a old geezer who wants to get paid. When you watch a good movie, or tv series, like I notice theres always good elements that are added in, and thats what makes it fun to watch. I wish I was the consultant for this film.. haha, and just correct what they doing wrong etc etc. In the game, its like a whole new universe, like when you watch Star Wars or The Matrix, you get to see all sorts of things. The Tekken movie, didn't offer much sets, and in the tournament, they just used the actual Tekken logo from the game, and its on the wall, like they couldn't come up with anything better to how the tournament arena should look.

Speaking of looks, certain characters are right on the money. I mean, they look so exactly like the game character that you just believe its them... like Raven. For Eddie, I'm sure most martial art fans were waiting for Lateef to play him, so his looks doesn't matter. The fight between Eddie and Raven came out good because of Lateef. The guy who plays Raven, I'm guessing he doesn't have a martial art background, because of his execution. Tagawa was fine as Heihachi, and if he wasn't in the film, it would had sucked more, so I'm glad he was in the movie. Some shots of Tagawa as Heihachi came out really good, it did feel like Heihachi lol. Ian Anthony Dale, I don't know this guy, he looks italian or mexican, but if you make believe he's Kazuya, its not that bad. He looks asian or half asian from far away lol. When you watch the film, just watch how he plays Kazuya, and you'll see why he was chosen for the part. some scenes, they got Kazuya down... like the way he turns his head, and shots of his face etc. Ian just didn't shave, he kept his mustache playing Kazuya. If Tekken had a bigger budget, they should of add in the whole Devil/Angel deal to the film, because then it would give Kazuya that devil-ish side, which is in the game. Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury... we all know Gary, so I didn't know how he was gonna pull it off, he's kinda built like Bryan, but I still think he's not the character. There was some lame stuff he did in the film, but I blame it on the director. I've seen a lot of Gary's movies, and not all of them are good, the ones that are, he's like taking directions from Jackie Chan or Tony Leung. Luke Goss as Steve Fox... I don't know this guy either, he just kinda have Steve's face, but not Steve's built, so with clever writing, to fit Luke in, just write him in as a former tekken fighter... gay huh? lol. So we see him, but he doesn't fight, he is just like Jin's manager. Everyone does get to fight a little, but its nothing much. Nathan Jones as Craig Marduk was false. Or maybe he just didn't make it to be in the movie I don't know. We don't see Craig. For Nina and Anna, they look ok, just that the woman who plays Nina, seem like someone who was just randomly picked to play her. The add on girl whose like Jin's girlfriend? Or whatever, they didn't need her. Kelly Overton as Christie Monteiro... was a bad decision. When you see her meet Jin, she's like doing kata... how lame is that? In the game, she's a Capoeira Fighter, and she knows Eddie Gordo. In the movie, she doesn't do Capoeira, and we don't see her have any connections with Eddie. So there you go with lazy writers, whose not caring enough for the Tekken script. Kelly just fail, I'm sorry, I just didn't want to see her anymore as Christie. There was one part where it seemed like Jin and her were sneaking around, and they were holding hands like boyfriend and girlfriend, I mean, there you go again, lame. You just go like... whose idea was this? lol. Cung Le as Law, failed. I don't care if he's a MMA fighter. Why didnt the filmmakers just call Donnie Yen or Danny Chan? I would rather see Donnie do his Bruce Lee impressions to bring Marshall Law to life than Cung Le just being himself. Does Cung Le have any on screen fight experience? He just seem so noob at it. I wasn't impress at all. As for Jon Foo, I only seen him in TYG, and he didn't talk, so in Tekken, when I heard his voice, it was the first time haha. He just did ok, I believe his martial art performance could of been better. We've seen him fight Tony Jaa, and he do a good job.. for Tekken, with bad martial art fight chreography, it seems like its not the same guy who fought Jaa in TYG. Jon did manage to throw in some skills that could had been his ideas. For Jin's gloves where we see him wear in the game, in the movie, Steve gives him the gloves, which he made it sound like it was his, and he gives it to Jin... kinda stupid. On to Jin's mother Jun... It is a asian lady, and don't know her. Heres whats funny, the lady who plays Jun, doesn't look like her at all. During the flashbacks in the film, Jun looks like a random woman, and you see a younger Jin, and its like a random boy. Everyone some what resemble their character except for Jun and Miguel. In this movie, what I notice is that the filmmakers did squeeze in at least 1 tekken fighter from each game, thats why we see Miguel from part 6, and Dragunov from part 5 dark resurrection.

Those of you that haven't played Tekken, and you get to see this film - first, it will give you a idea of what the game is about. Because the movie did add in the Mishima story, which is in the game. Its just basically a fighting game, and they take movements from martial art movies etc etc.

I wanna spoil a scene... its the one where Kazuya kills his dad.. by blowing him up with bombs and stuff... and as he's walking away from the explosion he says "Heihachi Mishima is dead." LOL If you've played Tekken 5.. you would know where they got that line from.

Other parts that was just lame, when Kazuya took over Tekken, he started to run things his way, like the tournament. He made the fighters fight to the death, and its like on TV.. so like the ratings went up or something... and he wanted to keep that up... which is dumb. Who ever wrote that in, should not of. Because its not like that in the game. The game goes deeper into things, and the fights are more personal... Kazuya basically becomes a Devil pretty much in the game... and there was never a point where any of the fights were for TV to get higher ratings.

Tekken didn't have everyone from the game, but I think if they wrote a better script, they would of been able to add in everyone, but like we only get to see a little of them. Thats what the Tekken animated movie did. In the Anime, again, its the Mishima story, and during this story we do see a bit of everyone.

About the fights... I only enjoyed the Eddie vs. Raven one. The rest, went more like a blur... it wasn't good. They approach the fights more like MMA, thats what I felt they did. The real main problem is, everyone has their own fighting styles... and we dont really see any of it, except for Lateef as Eddie doing Capoeira. So they fail in that department. The game goes under martial arts... the movie here doesn't really, but they try. Umm something they did with the fights near the end, was that they used weapons. Once Fury and Dragunov started fighting, it was to the death, using weapons. During this part, I thought maybe the filmmakers wanted to take Tekken this direction because they wanna top or some what live up to the game, cuz it got pretty violent. They show blood etc. None of the fights were memorable though.

Is this movie for kids? I'm not even sure, its more violent than Mortal Kombat, and there is a little sexual content as well.. like the 2 sisters and the devil. Is the movie worth watching again? Not really. I bet everyone would just watch it once, and probably toss it in the trash the next day. After the movie ends, what they do next is... during the credits.. they show scenes of when we see the characters with big bold letters of their names, and thats dumb too.

Re: Michael Jai White stars in ‘Mortal Kombat’ pitch

yeah it doesn't look nothing like the game... and that was g@y. since when baraka did capoeira?

Re: ‘Ip Man 2′ shooting diary revealed as Yen calls quits

i thought the headline sounded like donnie was gonna drop out of ip man 2. thank god it wasn't that. smart move from donnie, don't make a ip man 3. we know how hong kong cinema is, 1 successful film leads to the not so popular others making more movies about the same person. the chinese film industry hasn't changed huh? it's so typical of them to do that. i don't wanna see more fictional films about ip man.

the movies that become classics stay in your dvd collection. the so-call sequels and prequels are either a own/rental. the f@ggots who does a re-make of the classics, or they do their own version with not going into much depth, usually fail, and it's only to view once... like the karate kid re-make haha. jackie might be in the film, but it might not be worth owning.

Re: Second trailer for ‘The Karate Kid’

umm lol visually it looks ok, but the dialogue... i mean omg, really bad. dunno how the movie will do.

i still like that last scene where jackie's catching the fly haha.

Re: First teaser footage from ‘The Legend of Chen Zhen’

someone said black mask 3! haha....

i don't like the title, and i don't like the poster. the teaser went more like wtf... and it didn't get me excited or nothing. they're using the chen zhen name from fist of legend, and letting donnie yen play him. talk about screwed. why didn't they call it The Legend of Chen Jun? i guess they trying to get jet li jealous or something.. haha.

Re: 10 images from ‘Tekken’

the images not worth looking at. being nice though, i think raven and eddy looks good.

this is what i call a slap to the face to asians, and to the GAME. oh sure its a japanese fighting game that's popular, so make it into a movie. hollywood just know what people want, oh not all people, just their white people. obviously they can't stand to see a dominant asian lead, so get someone half asian... talk about taking carradine over bruce for the kung fu tv series.

so wtf is wrong with the movie? the game takes shit from martial art movies, from wrestling yady yada etc etc... when you play Law.. who does it remind you of? Bruce Lee... when you play Lei.. who does that remind you of? Jackie Chan.. and it goes on and on... they can't even get a chinese guy to play Law? is it that hard to do? heihachi, kazuya, jin are family, they're japanese... using Cary is fine... but the other two.. WTF... i would say Kazuya is pretty much the main evil bad guy, and they can't even get a talented japanese actor to play him or Jin.. Jin is like the main focus through out this whole tekken story.. whose the idiot that wanted Jon Foo to be Jin?????? who here actually plays tekken? compare the two... here's what i think, the video game character, Jin Kazama, is more charismatic than a Jon Foo.... i rather take a full cgi animated movie of tekken, than this hollywood crap, that shouldn't even come out on blu-ray. (because its not worth viewing in HD.) hollywood likes to belittle asians or something? are they that racist? where is the asian pride? i guess it all comes down to money. i dunno why Namco doesn't say anything about it. why don't the game creators do something about it? asia cinema should really counter hollywood's crap, and like make parodies of their wasted piece of trash, to throw them off guard.

Re: Stephen Chow redoing ‘Way of the Dragon?’

where you weirdos come from?...

columbia pictures isn't backing him up this time? it looks like he's re-using old techniques, and he's running out of ideas. also it seems like he's just trying to get the film done now, so he can move on to something else. i'm not anticipating anything at all here. first look i was like, oh god, not this again. anyway this one other teaser poster of ong bak 3, where he has shorter hair with the tattoos, seem like a would be a good film.

Re: FUNimation to unleash 15 Shaw classics

i'm just glad invincible shaolin got the clean up. not only it's a classic, the venoms are in it.

i knew funimation was going to attempt this, because after the dragon balls, and other animes, they started releasing a japanese samurai movie, and i was like surprise.

if funimation is re-releasing those titles... it's going to be dubbed over... again? with those dragonball z dubbers?

Re: First teaser for ‘Ong Bak 3′

i saw the trailer before this site posted it here. i really feel sorry for jaa, because this one don't look that good either. i think what tony needs to do is more modern action martial art films, and leave the old fashion stuff behind.

Re: Live-action ‘Tekken’ trailer and release date

to violetsystems.

i do, i've seen the photos, and your point is? i see one woman, who i'm not sure who she's playing, that's all. don't take it too serious, or you'll cry about it.

i am a fan, omg, the internet is full of weirdos. a real tekken fan would love anything thats tekken? dude you really need to get a life. did you see the tekken anime movie? did you like that? lol. just because you're a fan, doesn't mean the other tekken fans should think like you do, and automatically love everything that has to do with the game.

hollywood movie or not, it doesn't matter, what matter is, if it's going to be a good film... and that will it do justice to the game? from the trailer, it looks pretty crappy, i already see what they lack. don't tell me the trailer actually got you excited? i rather take all the cut scenes from tekken 6 and the trailer from tom yum goong over this. it's people like you that probably don't care that Jin is played by Jon Foo. Foo is just making a fool of himself, and he looks ridiculous. watching him in action, i keep forgetting that he's playing Jin, because Jon isn't built or look like him at all.

look at Cung Le, i bet he won't even try to impersonate Law.

In DoA, they did do somethings right, and somewhere in the middle, the movie was just ok. i'll never watch it again, but its ok, that's what i sense from tekken.

Re: Second trailer for ‘True Legend’

uh black people have bad taste... lol.

anyway, at first I wasn't really sure what to think about this film, because it just seems like any film that involves YWP, it's gonna be about these historical chinese martial artist. he has done enough for them, i say, move on to something else. If he keeps making more movies about Wong Fei Hung, Huo Yuan Jia, Fong Sai Yuk, on and on, and more Tai Chi, and more Drunken Fist... are you people still gonna watch it? or you'll finally wake up and realize that it's really nostalgic, and rehashing these characters over and over again, is getting old...

anyway, i'm sure a lot of us here seen YWP's movies, and you all know that he's done stuff on Beggar Su... but i dunno, the trailer looks good, the fight choreography is intriguing, and since Xun Zhou is in the film, it will be worth a watch. she is hot, she's the girl from Painted Skin with Yen and Zhao Wei.

did you guys notice David Carradine? lol.

Re: Live-action ‘Tekken’ trailer and release date

failed. no wonder they aren't showing it in theaters, its crap. i don't care if cung le is in it, talk about sucking @ss. they do have some good martist artist in the film, but it all boils down to the whole movie. i'm a big tekken fan, and some of the characters there in the trailer, i'm not even sure who the F they're playing.

Re: ‘Avatar’ takes top honors at Golden Globes

why u talking about Avatar? is it a martial art film?

Re: Van Damme on Sly’s ‘Expendables’ offer

ok, don't be mad at him now for not wanting to be in the film lol.. if jackie and the other guys turned it down, i can understand why. chan is someone with full of ideas, as we all know, and if he's gonna do so little in a action film, he rather not be in it. if these other stars are busy with their movies, and sly is like offering such a small part for them... it's better to turn it down, i would. sometimes those films with a lot of movie stars fail.

i'm still debating if it's true that Van Damme doesn't respect Yen and Jaa, but one thing i'm sure about is that he does respect Jackie, and Bruce.

Re: ‘Ninja Assassin’ crushed by ‘New Moon’

"boring"? they're just saying that because they can't stand seeing a asian lead. i find myself watching more asian films, than a New Moon or any of the american crap out there. just remember that americans have different taste. Ninja Assassin didn't have enough? i believe they did what they could to keep you interested. how about van damme's films? ever enough for you? haha.

some of you pick it apart way too much, if you know so much about film making, go make your own ninja movie, and make sure it pwns NA and it makes a heck of a lot of money. i think i could haha.. anyway, i liked NA, and there was just little minor problems here and there, but overall the film pretty much rocked. they could of went for a more realistic approach, like most of sho kosugi's ninja films, but no, the movie went more like a comic book type of thing. still, even with those crafted maded up weapons and stars etc., the film did manage to put me on edge. i liked that it was very dark, very negative, the ninjas dominated the night, seeing sho was a plus, and rain did a good job. i actually thought we would see da man sho kosugi, back in black! u know, back in his full ninja gear, but seeing how his character was, i'm glad he didn't. it would of been cool though, just to see him in a ninja uniform again, to drive us fans crazy haha. its as big as seeing stallone playing rambo.

i don't know if any of you seen japanese martial art action films, but their style is completely different from the HK style. Sonny Chiba anyone? Hiroyuki Sanada? as i was watching Ninja Assassin, i already knew that they weren't going for a Yuen Woo Ping choreagraphy. COME ON! its freakin japanese, with ninjas! i know Rain isn't japanese, but that's not the point. Ninjas don't need fancy fight scenes, so quit complaining. you want them to break it down wong fei hung, jet chan style? overuse of CGI? well i say they're just trying to get their point across, and the blood needs to come out perfectly hehe. i don't see anything wrong with the editing, its probably what the director or the Wachowski brothers wanted. you people want the editing to be like what anyway? and the lighting, whats wrong with the lighting? we're dealing with Ninjas here, the darker the better. go watch American Ninja then, if you want good lighting haha, because none of the ninjas come out at night.

some scenes in Ninja Assassin, i saw the director's vision, and i think it came out really good. in some movies, they have that 1 million dollar shot, NA had a few of those. like the wide shot of when we see all the ninjas appear from darkness, i mean, that made my skin crawl.

the fight scenes were fine, i kinda like all the gore and slaughtering. i'm glad they didn't break it down with a HK style of action.

Re: Trailer and character posters for ’14 Blades’

why donnie with vicki again? the two don't mix.

Re: Japanese poster and release date for ‘Tekken’

Tony Jaa needs to kick Jon Foo's @ss again, Jin is Japanese =.= Jon looks like someone in a halloween costume... they didn't want a asian lead or what? at least in Ninja Assassin, the leading man is asian, and that film rocked.

Re: Trailer for ‘The Karate Kid’ remake

OMFG hahhahahahhh.... ahhh man its a disgrace, but the world is fked anyway... can't wait to see it lol.

that part where jackie was trying to catch flies like mr. miyagi, and he couldn't catch one, then he uses a fly swatter instead cracked me up hahahaha.

whats pissing me off is, they're still calling it the karate kid?

Re: ‘King of Fighters’ promo video

where's Terry? ...The crap of Fighters is more like it.

Re: Lundgren in talks to appear in ‘Conan’

cool news to me. lundgren was he-man remember... lol.

Re: REVIEW: Tournament, The (2009)

Kelly is sexy....

Re: Donnie Yen to bring ‘The Legend of Chen Zhen’

my first reaction was... wtf, this is the dream project donnie was waiting for.

isn't it a slap to the face to jet li? lol.
