In recording vocals, There are many variables to consider when choosing a microphone. All microphones have there own characteristics(sound qualities), such as frequency response, signal to noise ratio, sensitivity, etc..These bring color and brightness or lack there of... .ALL vocalist have their own characteristics as well. Choosing the best mic possible for the individual is what it comes down to. The Uni-Directional mic will work for vocals, especially if they are performing live. But as you can see, there is a lot more to choosing a mic than its polar pattern. When recording in a studio, the vocalist is usually isolated in a vocal booth anyway so unwanted noise is not an issue.

Re: Introduction to the Recording Console

Well, by doing that chances are Mr. Signal will be lost forever inside the console and you'll never help him get out.

Re: Understanding Microphone Pickup Patterns

Actually I'm pretty sure most webcam pick up patterns are omni-directional, heres a good test, press record on your cam and walk around it speaking, then play it back to see if it gets weak in certain areas. I'm pretty sure your levels will stay the same if your equal distance all the way around it.

Re: Sound and Hearing

Just the basics, Thanks for looking.

Re: Why instrument flying thrills me to bits!

I was wondering if you could fly me to the vineyard this weekend? lol

Re: What I’d Like to Customize in my PC

Thanks for your prompt response, Your definitely going to be added to my favs, I will be building computers for every family member so I figured by the time I am done I will be able to maintain all 5 of them with ease. I'm tired of picking computers already built and then finding out i can not upgrade them. I'm a hands on guy and look forward to doing this I am already pretty good with the computer as far as installing hardware and such it comes pretty easy to me considering i'm into music and recording, I understand signal flow its amazing at how many other areas the acoustics and electronics class I had to take helps me in other areas of my technologically fulfilling lifestyle. i look forward to blogging with someone like your self who can help me in those troubled spots. Thanks for being there.

Re: Photo of the Day: Mountain High Mist

The wife and I have been considering a new destination for our vacation, Maybe we will look into Bali some more, it is soo Beautiful!

Re: What I’d Like to Customize in my PC

I will be building my own computer and my question is?
