I'd point out that the very zoning laws meant to support mom-and-pop stores actually hurt them by driving up costs. When you're limited in how small of a space you can buy, you have to buy a bigger one. When you're limited in how high you can build vertically, you have to buy more land and expand horizontally.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Besides, more traffic for a chain can mean more traffic for the stores next to them.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I know people have the best of intentions behind these regulations, but I think those laws hurt more than they help.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Brian_Bolduc</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 05 Mar 2010 11:52:20 -0000</pubDate></item><item><title>Re: I Go to Harvard. The actual saying is "just deserts," but it is often misspelled as "just desserts."
