He's a comic book artist that has done a lot of work with Marvel and just recently starting writing his own graphic novel. You can learn a lot about Paolo's process on his blog - paolorivera.com where he writes at least three times a week about his current work and techniques.

Hardware is just as important to Paolo as software. His sketches begin digitally and his paintings are scanned and post-produced in Adobe Photoshop. Digital seems to have affected old-school storytelling too.

Re:

We talked about his experience with podcasting, that time he went viral on YouTube, and just a little about his current startup venter - http://www.fourstjames.com/

Eduardo and I are excited for the possibilities with this panel. We've got a couple more interviews lined up to ensure we bring a wide sampling of storytelling examples to the ideas.

Re:

Thanks for the great comments guys. We're really excited for the possibilities with this topic. We met last week to discuss the panel and further solidify where we want to take it. At this point we're leaning toward touching on the mechanics of the technology, but leaving plenty of time to focus on what to consider when designing experiences that tap into your accelerometer, gps, camera, and other outside data sources. While the smartphone is your active interface, there are plenty of other passive interfaces (Nest, FitBit, etc) that could pass data... and let's not forget about other forms of context like traffic, weather, and police blotters. All of these things coalesce on to create your smarter-than-ever phone.

Another big point of the discussion will be privacy concerns. Ironically, today is the anniversary of SkyNet becoming aware. What was once science fiction is becoming a reality. Who are we giving our data too? Are you reading your terms of service? What about the NSA... do they also have access to see that I'm going 85 on the freeway since my GPS is passing data to the cloud somewhere?

This panel will definitely be juicy. Chuck and Jessica are both brilliant, well-spoken individuals who are passionate about innovation and compelling experiences.

Re: Storm Surfers presented by Yekra

Sure looks like an interesting film

Re: Sneak Peek to CES 2013 Keynote

Wow, this looks like it'll be a great keynote!

Re: Nokia Lumia 820 Review: Is Bigger Necessarily Better?

...
