My only real comment would be to move the video record button to the top, replacing the C1 button on the A6300, so it resides beside the shutter button. That would make selfie recording easier too, thus negating the need for a front video record button. although with that in mind, adding a small red recording indicator light on the front maybe handy for those situations, especially if there wasn't a flip out screen

Re: Sony A7000 concept by David Cooper

yeah I'd prefer the video record button on top too. but personally I would place it where the C1 button is on the 6300, so it's beside the photo shutter button

Re: BrandFinance declares Google the most valuable brand in the world

thanks... I know what you mean, I was hesitant to include my link, but it was only because I'd mentioned this a few days ago

Re: BrandFinance declares Google the most valuable brand in the world

I think a lot of people are missing the point, being at the top of the graph doesn't necessarily make the company bigger or better than another, it's an indicator of how valuable the brand is to a company. I blogged about this a few days ago, here if you're interested http://blog.brendanmitchell...

in essence: "But what does this all mean? To get a bit of perspective, Coke’s Brand Value (BV) is now $26bn = 37% of it’s $70bn Market Capital (MC)… while the likes of Apple, (whom appear to be in the press all the time) have a BV of $29.5bn which is only 12% of it’s $244bn MC, meaning Coke’s Brand Value is worth 3 times as much to it’s share price than Apple! While ExxonMobil (the worlds largest company) with a MC of $312bn, has a BV of $14bn, which is just 4.3%

So as you can see, brands are very important, but they can be far more valuable to some companies than others."

Re: Exxodus: Why the Free Radicals Are Leaving Triiibes - Sacrilicious Marketing

Chris - I don't get the tone of your reply, why would you refer or classify members as being from the "Peanut-gallery", there's really no need for such derogatory terminology. If it's in reply to myself using the term "inbreeding" in my earlier reply then that's my failure to explain myself properly, I was referring to how within a close knit group things become very inward looking & insular (I wasn't referring to anyone as an inbreed, if anyone took offence at that I apologise, not intentional)

Plus, your argument is flawed & thus counter productive, on one hand you're endorsing the virtues of a closed Triiibes, then on the other, you're sullying the reputation of those that could do so within a moderated group, as elitists keeping out the peanut-gallery.

So are you saying Triiibes is for elitists only, that want to keep out the peanut-gallery? No, not directly... but indirectly, yes you are.

If your only argument for keeping Triiibes closed is because you're concerned with the possible amount of noise if it were opened up, then you're missing the point of Mary's post, you're missing out on all the good stuff that could be happening at Triiibes... the reason there's no noise, is because there's no real talking or debates going on... Triiibes is OK, at times it's pretty good, but it's not remarkable, and that's a shame, as it had the potential to be phenomenal.

Re: Exxodus: Why the Free Radicals Are Leaving Triiibes - Sacrilicious Marketing

Hi Chris - well as I said, I don't know if it's the right approach or not, but I'd certainly like to see a debate about it within Triiibes again, to give the members an opportunity to voice their opinions and for yourself et al, to share your examples.

Plus at the same time it would be useful to hear opinions from Triiibes outsiders, for them to put forward reasons why they feel an open Triiibes would benefit everyone... if their arguments are valid & were also fact based, then the case for opening Triiibes would be founded, as this would be input we would have missed within a closed Triiibes.

Re: Exxodus: Why the Free Radicals Are Leaving Triiibes - Sacrilicious Marketing

I'm not about to add to the comment tennis going on, as I neither have the time nor inclination.

What I wanted to say was thanks Mary for putting this analysis together, it's thought provoking and I think it's on the money in quite a few places. I too have been on Triiibes less & less over the past few months, partly due to other commitments, but also due a lack of interest with the majority of what's going on inside, personally I didn't find it engaging enough. I was against putting a wall around Triiibes, cutting it off from the outside world, from the outset and I'm still not convinced this was, or is, the right approach (Mary has put forward a good case). I understand the point of tightening a tribe to make it closer knit, but as with making any group or community too tight knit, it can stifle progress, or in severe cases, leads to inbreeding. So I agree with Mary on that one, fresh blood is required.

I also find myself agreeing with many of Anne's comments, although I've not felt pressurised or harassed, but maybe I've just missed it all during my hiatus. I still drop by Triiibes from time to time, but the initial flame has gone, I'm not saying it couldn't be rekindled, as I think it could. Being in Triiibes has been a rewarding experience for me, I've connected with some great people, I've learnt plenty from a wide variety of people from all parts of the world that I would unlikely ever meet in the real world, I've made some friendships I foresee continuing for years outside of Triiibes & hopefully I've contributed a bit back as well, so either way, the entry cost has been more than paid back and for that I thank you all (oh, and Seth of course).

So is the answer, removing the walls & opening Triiibes for new blood? who knows... it was a long time ago when we asked this originally, things have moved on, maybe we should ask the question again?

now may the battle of words continue : )
