It is impossible to fit 250,000 people onto the West Lawn of the Capitol. Regardless of how many people attended this march, I would say it was extremely effective in winning marriage equality in Maine.

The website now projects that the same-sex marriage bill will become law
Tuesday, February 16, 2010. This is based on 30 weekdays. This represents the earliest possible date it will become law. However Congress is normally not in session everyday. Also heavy snowstorms this winter will surely shut Congress down for 3-4 days further delaying the DC same-sex marriage law.

The DC Government website states that Mayoral Review will be finished by Sunday, January 04, 2010.

You are right. These pictures were taken sometime after 230,000 people miraculously left.

Let me be clear, I am not against the Equality March. It made all the major news except Fox. Marching is not substitute for actual work.

I agree "blatant liar" was a harsh term. I was frustrated. But wouldn't you agree that it would have been more responsible to guesstimate if 250,000 was a reasonable number before posting. No estimate is perfect but when the number is unreasonable it should raise flags. In my opinion, "unconfirmed" is a cop out.

I've been to several marches/rallies on in DC and both the overestimation and the underestimation of the participants are sore spots for me.

20,000 people is a good estimate. It is too bad the organizers could not delay the march until Spring 2010. The turnout would have been much better.

Bishop Harry Jackson only recently moved to D.C. since getting caught claiming that he lived in a gay condo building. Living in Maryland while registering to vote in D.C. is a crime. Jesus would see the fraud he is committing. I hope he doesn't overlook the fact that he has to pay D.C. taxes.

I don't hate Bishop Harry Jackson. I hate his actions and hurtful words towards the gay community. Furthermore "Bishop" Harry Jackson is a liar and does not speak the truth. He does not live in DC. Last time I checked, liars go to Hell in the Christian religion. Or maybe lying and breaking the law is okay as along as you bash gays.

Unfortunately we live in a center-right country right now. The truth is you have to wait for the older generation to die off to move forward nationally on GLBT rights. But in the meantime you can fight for rights at the state and local level. Obama cannot lead this fight for you.

Health Care would benefit the LGBT population more than repealing DOMA. DOMA will take years to be repealed while Health Care reform is something that is currently being debated in Congress.

My argument is that it is better to work diplomatically with elected officials since they are ones who will handout the rights. Sure Obama can ignore DOMA and DADT but that victory would set off a backlash just like it did in 1993.

It is a major mistake to bite the hand that feeds. Just eat the crumbs and wait your turn. Health Care reform is a more important issue right now. Obama can't rule by fiat. This rancor should be directed towards Congress.

If you are using Internet Explorer you can change the Text Size by going to the Page menu and selecting "Text Size".
If you are using Firefox you can easily increase the text size by pressing Ctrl++. I hope this helps you.

There are plenty of affordable places to live in DC. Here is a listing for only $215,000 within walking distance to two metro stations. You can't find a townhouse this affordable in NYC.
