Generally urban fantasy with kick-ass heroines Dante Valentine &amp; Jill Kismet, young adult vampire v werewolf, none of whom sparkle, and the steampunk Bannon &amp; Clare (magic v science) are excellent.</p><p>Elizabeth Bear's Jenny Casey novels (Hammered, Scardown &amp; Worldwired) are excellent too.
