If Avon and the others want to move their business, they can. McCann doesn't own them. As for Joan, presumably her non-compete clause is wiped out by the fifty cents on the dollar settlement. If she wanted to wait the four year term of the non-compete clause, wouldn't she have received one hundred cents on the dollar for her partnership share?

So here's the thing about the Miller Beer meeting. They're trying to come up with an advertising approach to what would become Miller Lite. And in RL, the approach that was used was pure brilliance: Tastes Great, Less Filling. Less Filling is the key. It means not that a beer drinker is worried about calories but that he can drink more beer. And that's the kind of stunning insight we could have hoped for from Don Draper, if he'd stayed at the meeting and spoken up. But nooooo, he had to light out for the territories. Don, we hardly knew ye.

I completely agree. Attacking one of the most fundamental precepts of the U.S. Constitution ought to cause this author to be brought before a hate speech tribinal and sentenced to a long stretch in a re-education camp.

Everything old is new again. "Instant on" eliminated waiting for the TV to warm up by keeping a current running through it at all times. But since that very small current draw apparently causes 60% of Bangladesh to be under water, our TV's no longer have an "instant on" feature, and the warm up interval is back, though thankfully briefer than it was sixty years ago.

Though it was very sporting of Lord Grantham to have a plaque made for Mrs. Patmore's nephew, does it belong in the town park? The men who served with honor get a joint memorial and the deserter gets his own large individual memorial nearby. Wouldn't it have been a lot more appropriate to place the plaque somewhere on the estate? (Though not with Isis, whose loyalty and fidelity shouldn't be devalued by having a deserter's plaque alongside her.)

Bates's certainty that she won't be convicted suggests he intends to repeat his oh so noble gesture of taking the rap for his wife, which accounted for his first prison stretch. Please, God, this time hang him quickly so we can move on. In fact, hang them both. BTW, why does the fact he still had an unused return ticket absolve him of suspicion among those who know about it? Does it take a criminal mastermind to buy two return tickets, use one and hold the other unused for an alibi?
