I really needed an AMC-style aftershow where someone could ask Doug what in the holy fuck he was thinking with that choice. I think Tara should host, and she could also grill the female celebrities (besides ValBert) about their footwear choices. I am not a crackpot.

I really wanted to like it but...felt like you. I do remember watching a bunch of variety shows growing up but I was young enough to take them all at face value and thought they were funny. I also liked Hee Haw. I thought there were a few signs of promise: I liked the "Frozen 2" song and the lullaby duet between Maya and Chris Parnell was lovely (although the joke of "Go the fuck to sleep" is a little played out). I thought Armisen and Hayes killed the energy of any bit they were in, though.

As I mentioned on Twitter, I recapped SO MANY of the shows from Game Time. Tara mentioned a few (Freakylinks, Gideon's Crossing), but from memory, I also recapped Invasion, Karen Sisco, and The Nine. Probably others. I was quite the showkiller in my day.

I always appreciate when players actually LEARN from the mistakes made previously, both their own and others. Cochran is obviously a huge student of the game (did he mention he wrote a paper about it? Oh, he did?), and he learned how to maximize his strengths (listening, empathizing, keeping his trap shut) and minimize his weaknesses (physical feats of strength, a bit of nerd chauvinism, paranoia and neurotic behavior). The only other person playing the game as well was Malcolm, for a while, until he threw his lot in with the other bros. I think if (when) Malcolm comes back, he will do even better (if he doesn't get immediately voted out) -- remember that he had to play another season without even watching his own season on TV first, so he couldn't learn from his mistakes that way.

This was one of my favorite shows back in the day. Wasn't there a blonde lady neighbor who was kind of a proto-Ellen Degeneres and she and Jamie Lee Curtis called each other "Mrs. Finkelstein" or something similar?

I got the Kindle app on my Ipod Touch more out of curiosity than anything -- like you, I thought I needed the tactile experience of reading. What I've found is that I do read books on it, mostly when I am places where lugging a book around is tough -- dr's appointments and the like. I wouldn't buy a dedicated device just for reading like the Kindle, but I can see the appeal, and this from a die-hard book reader. I don't think I'll ever give up books, but it's nice to have an alternative when I'm stuck somewhere without a book.
