First the flagrant violations of environmental protections and unauthorized development on her property. Then her 'my son dropped it in an olive jar' story of unrecoverable iPhone messages. Now her attempts at restraining orders to ban attendance at council meetings of whistle blowers who identified her violations.

Why have a Design Review Board if they can't dictate design? The Design Review Board must have the power to enforce their opinion on design, size and appropriateness of any new development or property update.
How else do we enforce the preferred aesthetics of Bainbridge Island?
And another thing; that McDonalds should never have been built. McDonalds does not reflect our island values or the special character of our eco lifestyles. McDonalds doesn't belong here. And the people who go to McDonalds (especially who use the drive-through) they don't belong here either - probably Trump supporters who bought McMansions.
Actually, to really protect our eyes and sensibilities from the ugly choices of others the Design Review Board must have power to weigh in on every choice. Like what people wear. I see an awful lot of inappropriate dress on the island. Hello - Yoga pants are for yoga, not PTO meetings. Dyed blue hair looks ridiculous unless you're 13 (and even then it looks stupid). And your gardens! Way too much zucchini being grown - nobody wants to eat it and bloated zucchini tubers look gross.
Yes, life here would be so much better if the best people, the people on the Design Review Board had the power to enforce their preferred aesthetic on everything.

To be clear Ron is a complete embarrassment to our island.
He was elected in an anti-development backlash. The only thing most voters knew about him was an "Island Treasure" write up for his care taking of some farmland. He composts, grows vegetables and has chickens; highly regarded activities here.
Since taking office he's had multiple ethics violations and is basically shunned by the rest of the council. He's not running for a second term because he knows he has no chance to win.

These are shocking and flagrant violation of the law by a city councilperson. Those photographs don't lie and clearly show Rasham and her husband did. They completely rebuilt that structure.
She's been an advocate for tighter controls on development and protecting sensitive environmental areas. Now exposed for the fraud she is I see no path for her to continue in office.
Council needs to censure her.

Jonathon Davis joined the volunteer task force AFTER their recommendations to the council.
I can see why Rasham Nassar may at first have seen a conflict of interest not having known that. But now that she does why does she continue to claim an ethics violation? Mr. Davis joined the task force as a volunteer after it had already decided to support a project he would be working on professionally.

If true, these are incredible allegations. I can hardly believe them - but the level of detail provided by the current accuser gives validity to the prior two. If there are others it may embolden them to come forward as well. If true the mayor is a conniving predator akin to Jerry Sandusky. I hope they prove to be false.

The article we are commenting on includes a quote "You raise the wage, you have to control costs. I used to have four (employees), but now I have two..." - Felix Ngoussou, the Lake Chad Café in Seattle’s Central District. There are many studies online that show pretty much what the authors want to believe.
The important consideration is the amount of wage increase mandated and how big a factor labor cost are to the employer's margins. The article itself notes that low margin high labor sectors (like grocery and food service) will be far more affected.
Popular initiatives like these push for a wage increase with the intended goal to "give everyone a living wage" but with no consideration of unintended consequences. Again, my point in suggesting $100/hr was to illustrate that at some increase low skill workers will not be not be worth hiring. That may not be so with a $1/hr increase but it certainly would be with a $50/hr increase, so somewhere in the middle is a tipping point and it probably differs substantially by industry.
