In my muddled brain I was thinking value as the text string that is displayed. Once I cleared the cobwebs and woke up it was an easy fix.
Again, great plugin!

Re: Chained Selects jQuery Plugin

Great plugin! I have, however, one minor issue that is causing a bit of a problem.

"Child select options must have class names which match option values of parent select."

Option values may (most likely will) have characters (e.g. spaces or &) that are invalid for class names--at least from a CSS perspective.

Any thoughts on a workaround?

Chuck

Re: Support

That would be nice if it worked, but unfortunately as I stated in my original post when I click on the Get Link button nothing happens, let me repeat that just in case it wasn't clear...NOTHING HAPPENS! The linkr box does NOT close, the liink is NOT inserted, and the link does NOTappear where my cursor was in my article.

Fortunately, after significant effort on my part, I was able to discover a solution, unforturnately, the solution was not provided by this forum or the developers of linkr. And, the "documentation" for linkr remains non-existent.

As a software developer with over 20 years of experience I would never publish any software without solid documentation that explains every aspect of the software, not just how to install it. The authors of linkr may believe that it is so easy a caveman can use it but no matter how simple the code, it still needs solid documentation. Poor documentation reflects directly on the quality of the product whether deserved or not. Great software requires equally great documentation.

Documentation is as important, perhaps more important, as the software. Improve the documentation and the user's perception of the software will also improve.

Re: Support

Is there any documentation for linkr? I have installed the latest version (2.3.6) I see the button, I select text, I get a popup window, choose the article and then what? If I click on Configure link I get a form with fields that honestly, don't make much sense as there is no tooltips or help to explain what is supposed to go in the different fields. But most annoying of all is that there is no button or anyway to save the configuration. If I click on Get link...nothing, absolutely nothing happens. The documentation pages on your website don't mention a thing about how to use it, only how to install it and configure it. I have tried this using IE7 and Firefox 3. The only difference I see is that in Firefox you actually get a thickbox window while in IE you get a regular popup window. So, help please!

Re: Support

I click the linkr button at the bottom of the editor window and a popup window appears; it displays Articles and a or search with a rotating wheel. Status line shows Done with error indicator. Double click on the error indicator and the previously reported error is displayed. I can click on the search link and it allows me to enter the section and select from the drop down but when I click search it simply produces the same error and never does return articles. I can also click the Article menu item with the same results. If I select Menu it displays my menus, if I attempt to expand one it simply hangs with the wheel, and produces the same error. If I select Contacts it shows form and the wheel under Select a contact is spinning but nothing ever happens and that same error occurs. In short, it occurs everywhere when trying to retrieve some information.

Re: Support

Running Joomla! 1.5.11. Just installed Linkr 2.3.4, default config. Running JCE 1.56. I have used linkr 2.3.3 successfully.
Problem appears to be similar to previous comments; any attempt to link just sits there and never ends. JavaScript error is:

Line: 81
Char: 52
Error: Syntax error
Code: 0
URL: http://example.com/administ...
