Now that we know who got shot and why the story does have a nice ring to it. I don't run. I've been where I'm at since 1992 and my family first came to live there in 1928. Here's a couple of things I've learned. Have a couple of Dogs. Dogs alone are good, but what they leave on the ground attracts flies. This draws in Lizards and Spiders. Let trumpet vines grow unchecked on the front fence so as to attract wasps. A proper front yard ecosystem eliminates many indigenous pests.

Also, check out the Logitech Security Camera available at the Spy Shop for $276.00 . No hard wiring is required. It is motion activated and will alert you via e-mail when it has been triggered, allowing you to view the video clip remotely from your PDA. Here is an example...

I live off Pearl Street Captain Crunch. I get to hear the gunfire that goes with these shootings as they happen. I know quite a bit about the "Urban Core". You are the newcomer. If you kept your mouth shut but your eyes and ears open you might learn something.

Yep, I used to enjoy eating at that Pizza Hut too. I have a lot of good memories of that place. I used to enjoy the Famous Amos on Lem Turner too, but now that's closed. I can't tell you how many shootings happened there. The locals didn't treat the staff with any respect and there were a lot of "Dine & Dashers". Other Famous Amos locations around town remain open, but maintaining operations on Lem Turner just didn't represent a return on investment even though they have had a steady flow of patrons since I was a kid.

People need to quit blaming the Police. The Police aren't there to insure that people act like civilized human beings and treat each other with respect. The Police can't instill a value of human life.

Good for US. Git 'er gone. The NATIVES like being able to vote on issues that will make our lives better, rather than dealing with Snowbirds who don't like commercial fishermen or offshore drilling obstructing their view of OUR water. It will be nice to go back to being a RED STATE again. Go back to your Blue State Socialist Paradise and then you won't have to tell anybody how it's done up North anymore.

I love Jacksonville. I love my home in da hood. I have never wanted to leave either but there is a curse on this city. The curse comes in the form of the lies we tell ourselves every day. Until the people of this City quit trying to invent explanations for this kind of behavior, look this evil squarely in the eye, confront it and put it down definitively with force, they are simply victims waiting to happen. I am getting to the point where I will soon make the choice to NOT live among this collective ignorance and apathy any longer. I'm not the only one. I can hardly wait to see what this city will be like when all the people with any intelligence have left for better places. The new tag line for the City will be "The Bold new Detroit of the South".

I sent a link to a friend of mine, carrying the news that Jacksonville now has the 4th most dangerous neighborhood in America. The response; "Sounds like Detroit back in the 90's". I grew up in the Highlands/Dunn Ave area. I remember one day in the 70's when I was riding my bike near Broward Road and I saw a small covey of Pidgeons on the ground. I usually only saw them at Krystals on Main Skreet. After I saw the Pidgeons I saw the first JTA Bus going down Broward Road. It was then that I knew that Doom was upon us. The bugs were headed North. I wasn't wrong. Now we have Pidgeons in Oceanway. The Trout River barrier didn't keep 32218 safe. Don't anyone believe that Thomas Creek or the St. Marys River will be an adequate barrier either. After we all leave Jacksonville will be a little Mogadishu. Too bad they won't stay in the neighborhoods they destroy.

I live off Pearl Skreet. It's a great decision from a tactical standpoint. As long as I keep trumpet vines growing on my fence I will have an abundance of flying insects that sting. I have a couple of dogs that keep stuff on the ground that attracts flies. Flies attract Lizards and Spiders. During the Summer I have plenty of wasps building nests among my cabbage palms and they fly at the slightest disturbance. None of the indigenous thug warriors from my hood want to risk contact with these creatures who terrify them so much in order to break into a house in the hood.

As economic condition decline I too will be forced to leave at some point.
