I have seen him on the travel circuit since he was in sixth grade, and, from what I have seen, he is good defensively.

I was at the Atlanta Celtics-Indiana Elite game in Birmingham (Hoover to be precise). You can see my son’s 16U Indiana Elite team playing on the left and behind. That Atlanta Celtics team is very tough. It was an OT game and Atlanta pulled it out. They had a wing who pretty much got to the rim at will and got fouled or scored anytime he wanted. This group is not as talented as the IE 2019 or 2021 group as a whole (Lander is actually 2021), but Leal and and Galloway have been carrying this group since they were freshman. My son has been In the IE program since 7th grade, so I see these kids a lot. They compete and are in the top 10-15 programs nationally. I don’t know if that answers the question, but there is my rant for this thread.

My son is in this class and has played with and against almost all of these kids, and I can tell you they are all very, very talented.

Congrats, Alex. While not there on Day 1, I do recall coming across this site sometime in 2007. I believe it was a recruiting story on a kid named Leon Washington, or something like that. It was about him punching another player, I think. I have been s loyal reader ever since. I don't comment like I did back then, but I agree the content has become more professional over time. However, some of that early stuff was so good and entertaining regardless of professionalism in the tone. Again, congrats to you, Ryan, and Eammon on the success of the site, many more years to come.

Did anyone else notice that Crean took a page out of the 1981 playbook and our Yogi at the FT line against Iowa's zone? Same as Knight did against UNC with Isiah. It proved very effective and Iowa dropped the zone after about 4 plays.

SG - Steve Alford, shooting is so valuable in today's game
SF - Calbert Cheaney - B1G All-time scorer
PF - Alan Henderson - most underrated player in IU history
C - Walt Bellamy - just a man a among boys

Bench - I focused on shooting because the three point shot is so import in today's game.
G - Randy Whittman - can play 2 or 3 and was a great passer
G - Jimmy Rayl - two 56pt games
G - AJ Guyton - 1 of 5 players over 2,000 pts
G - Jay Edwards - clutch
F - Scott May - unstoppable
C - Kent Benson - tough, gets easy buckets

1. Scott May - back to back undefeated regular seasons, National POY, 4 straight B1G champions, National Champion, elite 8, No 2 draft pick
2. Calbert Cheaney - B1G all time scorer, 3x All American, Final Four, Elite 8, National POY.
3. Steve Alford - National Champ, Elite 8 as a Freshman, Olympic Gold Medalist, IU scoring leader until Calbert.
4. Kent Benson - back to back undefeated regular seasons, 3 straight B1G champion, No 1 draft pick
5. Walt Bellamy - numbers unbelievable, no 1 draft pick.
6. Isiah Thomas - NIT Champ in '80, National Champion in '81.
7. Don Schlundt - Scoring, National Champ in '53
8. Mike Woodson - B1G player of the year in less than half a season. 2,000 point club.
9. Archie Dees - Numbers (like Bellamy) unbelievable.
10. Alan Henderson - ranks in the top portion of IU records books in several categories. Final 4, Elite 8, Sweet 16, all there.

Honorable Mention: AJ Guyton, scorer, hurts him due to not winning; Jimmy Rayl, scorer, again, no winning; Bobby Leonard, winner, but lacked stats; Damon Bailey, underrated for what he did; Quinn Buckner (see Bobby Leonard)

I think James Blackmon is great, but there have been more than a couple great shooters at IU since Alford. To name a few: Jay Edwards (who JBJ reminds me of), Calbert Cheaney, Damon Bailey, Brian Evans, AJ Guyton, Tom Coverdale, Kyle Hornsby, and Eric Gordon come to mind. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid's game and he is fearless, but I would argue that there have been some great ones since Alford, that's all.

I saw Brunk play with Southport and Scruggs last season, and he is a true post player with skills around the rim. He does not strike me as overly athletic, and he did not show much range in this game (but you do not really need to in a HS game when you are taller than everyone else), but he had several blocks an rebounded very well.

Would you rather Coach offer a highly rated/talented kid early (JBJ), or while there is still a chance to rescind the offer (David Williams), or be recruiting "under recruited" kids once the dust settles? Some of the comments from kids about the school they choose is because "love" was shown early and a relationship was developed. I don't think the issues at hand are due to recruiting kids early, does anyone else?

I saw Coach Crean at Mooresville vs. Southport Saturday night. Southport has a 6'10" sophomore with pretty good hands and decent around the rim. Not real athletic...reminds me a bit of Fischer. Is Indiana actively recruiting any Southport kids?

I thought AJ Guyton 2.0 when I saw him play. Similar shot making ability, loves the three ball, similar size. AJ did not have the stache, though.
