Basic concept is any loot that comes off a mob on your screen is only obtainable by you...which means you don't have to spam click to grab that Uber Epic that just dropped. It gives you time to shift inventory around and pick it up when ready. We've also seen some of this in TBC where only crafters can see if their crafting pattern dropped off of a mob. That way nobody else benefits from roll hax.

Since this (i think) is being brought to D3, and WoW has the "pattern blindness" already implemented...I wonder if we might see some more "individual" loot sometime in the future of WoW.

Re: The Spirit of Competition

BlizzCon 2008 Sold out

Re: BlizzCon 2008 Sold out

You are 1000% right sir (see...I added an extra zero there too ;))

Re: Happy Birthday from Blizzard

@Larísa yeah! A great gift might be a ticket for a hard (or impossible) to get item that's already in the game. Not too unique though. We don't want the Blizzcon peeps QQing that their Items are no longer unique. Maybe just a pallet shifted version of whats already available so you can still set yourself apart.

Re: Mage changes in WotLK Beta Build 8870

Yeah a few days ago, Blue posted about their goal making each tree a solid build. http://is.gd/1ofb

They've said the same thing about the Death Knights and how each tree should still be a solid build for tanking. They want each Mage tree to be viable for DPS. This being the case I'm thinking I might still want to stay Arcane for WotLK because of the utility.

Re: Mage changes in WotLK Beta Build 8870

haha indeed. i see they've changed AB a bit and it seems less nerfish now.

Re: Better then a Zboard

Judging by how old this pic might be and taking another look at it...I think the original intent was to demonstrate how overpowered Mages might have been at one time and all they needed to do whats type QQ to everyone. Oh how things have changed. :) Then again it might be exactly as I initially took it in showing how much mages QQ.

Re: The Dark Knight sends a nod to World of Warcraft

@Typhoonandrew yeah I guess I should have drawn a bit more attention then just saying "It’s not a World of Warcraft exclusive quote either." It does definitely sound like a philosophy question. There is a few things that I'm pretty sure are exclusive to WoW (melt faces) but there are also a lot of fun quotes that are a tongue-in-cheek reference to something else that the designers dropped in the game.

Re: Changes to Arcane Blast: Bogus or Buff?

@Krizzlybear and @gnomeaggedon, yeah this change is something I think was more or less uncalled for. I really haven't heard many complaints about AB and don't see the real need to change it. When is the last time someone called AB overpowered? It's power is kept in check pretty well by adding the extreme mana cost. Its still beta so things might change before launch and the post did take a very "horse blinders" approach to dissecting the spell. There my be some talent that will make this change own. I guess we'll wait and see.

Re: IE Problem solved with the blog

@Loronar IE didn't want to resolve anything past the first paragraph in the "Maaaaad Panda" post....so the site wouldn't fully load in IE. Still not exactly sure what happened. There was a TON of gobble-ge-gook code dropped into those post and within that I noticed a tiny bit of something that pointed to a greasemonkey script I had been running. I think some how that little monkey crawled out of its cage and started wrecking havoc on my blog.

@Larísa AH! YOU were the one snickering! Haha...well glad things are back to normal

@Incidental Purpose no problem at all and thanks again for reading and posting. I have a family blog as well but it hardly ever gets updated. I wasn't entirely sure what to write about here or if I'd have enough too write about. That's why there was a week stretch with no posts a few days ago...I really didn't have any thing going on in WOW and feel I should only post things that I myself would find worth reading. Which is kinda how this blog started...my wife got tired of hearing the things about WOW that I felt she should find interesting :).

Re: Changes to Arcane Blast: Bogus or Buff?

@Incidental Purpose: Well that's no good at all... What browser are you using? You're saying that you can only read 3 posts? Do they show up empty or just not at all?

They seem to be working for me atm... However I suppose the moral of the story for leveling an alt is ....don't expect morals to come from the other teams. It's a PvP server, be grateful if you ever see a fair fight. Sad but true :(

Re: Wrath of the Lich King Achievements: WoW

LOL I think FFVII is where I first found the meaning of completionist. Play through once how you want. Second time collect every piece of armor at every city and level up all Matera to max. Final fantasy games seem to encourage that (can't get the special ending unless you get 100% right?)

I'm just hoping they don't go too crazy with these and dangle prizes in front of those who feel they gotta do these kinds of quests to accomplish something. Giving out 10 /hugs is one thing. Defeating Arthas 25 man without any members dying will be another.

Re: Just can’t pull the trigger

Yeah I knew what I was getting into when I joined PvP server and I don't think I could ever bring myself to play on a PvE for very long. I do like the idea of attacks being open to happening whenever. I just wish they would fight with honor.

I just don't see why its so compelling to start a fight you know your going to win. There is no honor in that.

And don't say its "Your Horde and I'm Alliance...we're supposed to be mortal enemies" cause that doesn't fly. Besides the fact Warcraft Lore has shown factions can overcome differences and work together, there are other factions that you could consider mortal enemies. You could be killing 1000's of Twilight Avengers who are working to revive an Old God and destroy all of Azeroth.

But no...they don't kill NPCs....its not an inconvenience for a NPC to respawn. They like to kill players for the only reason of it makes them feel superior.

...pathetic

Re: Blizzard Authenticator Hands On

Yeah I've been wondering how my wife will be able to log in and play her Mage. The only thing I could think of is to leave it at my computer desk at home.

Several other accounts I "borrow" from time to time to multibox will no longer be available if they get the Authenticator too. I guess that's the price we'll pay for the security this device gives.

Re: Was Diablo 3 worth getting up for?

@New Reader First off thanks for the comment! You make some excellent points.

My main beef with the game play movie wasn't about Diablo 3 at all. It wasn't that I wanted them to make Diablo 3 complex. I wanted them to back up their comments about how bad ass Diablo 3 is going to be and how it will set the standard again the same way Diablo 1 did for the action role playing game genre. I expect the jump from Diablo 2 to Diablo 3 to be mechanically as impressive as Diablo 1 to Diablo 2. Updated graphics engine doesn't cut it. They didn't ruin the Diablo franchise when they came out with D2...they simply built upon it. I don't feel the Diablo 3 gameplay video shows that they built upon Diablo 2 sufficiently.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the game and will probably preorder it. I'm just calling shenanigans on D3 being something that is going to raise the bar. I expected to see some innovative battlenet features like a auction house to trade loot or maybe some way to respec your character if you didn't mean to put all your talent points into "Find Potion". If you look at the character inventory screen you can see the UI has bag slots. They didn't even mention that in the demonstration. I'll bet you there would have been a roaring standing ovation there if they would have mentioned their efforts to eliminate the need for bank mules.

I know the video was a very early example and pretty primitive to what the final game will be. I just feel the presentation of it was too much hot air and not enough substance. They could have done a lot better with the presentation.

Re: Progression doesn’t have to be linear

Awesome! Blizzard did say that you can "un-attach" a BlizAuth from the account but you'd have to contact customer service.

Re: Was Diablo 3 worth getting up for?

The game "looks" great there is no doubt about that. It also looks like a fun hack/slash with friends. The main point of this rant was to point out that it basically looks like a game that was once on the PS2 got ported to the PS3 with upgraded graphics.

To be fair I do plan on posting again with a more positive spin on the game. I just immediately took issue with Jay Wilson, lead designer on Diablo 3, bragging how Diablo "reinvented the roleplaying action genre" and nothing at all had been "reinvented" for D3.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Re: Aurdon

Don't mind at all! Thanks for posting where you found it. As to how I found your site see last sentence :). There are some good ways to track whats said out there on the web and basically I used the tip of another blogger to build an RSS feed that will notifiy me if a Google spider finds my blog mentioned via Google blog search.

The most complete list of Mage blogs (and all wow blogs for that matter) can most likely be found on the Twisted Nether Wiki. I added your blog there after I found it last night.

Re: Know when to fold em’

You bet.
