I agree that there SHOULD have been a packed house there. The only reason I could come up with was that it was a Tuesday night during the early part of the school year. The ticket prices were very affordable and honestly...if you left that concert unmoved by the music, you don't have a soul. I do think that, despite the small turn out, the crowd that was there was super enthusiastic and I could actually tell that Colin Meloy was having a good time with those participating.

I agree. Jax needs more events like this and it needs to be better publicized. Even though it was a small convention, there was a lot of enthusiasm from those who attended.

I've known people who had to rely on the Sulzbacher Center for some support at one time or other, so the budget talk has become vastly important to me recently. But, still, with as scattered and busy as I generally am I don't know if I would have known about the cuts if I didn't follow @thewayhome and @urbanjax on Twitter. So, I would definitely have to say social media definitely gets the word out there better than simply printing it or putting it up on a website.

Another person here agreeing about the drop down menus. It's a serious pet peeve of mine. I also emphatically agree about there being a need for better community management. I saw an article on the EVE Awards, and it turned into a complete meltdown. One person made it her project to say that there didn't need to be an award for these great women in the educational field but for "real" moms, whatever that may be. I felt like it was a slap in the face to all the women who had worked so hard to be considered for the awards.
