I bought the inquisition codex and was happy with the new fluff. It was only about $10 overpriced.

At $40 I'm just going to pirate it and hope GW learns about price points.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

I enjoyed this article.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Can't think of a Kill Team that can beat 5 Wraiths with particle casters.

EDIT: This must be the first time Goatboy has posted lists and not had the community up in arms about what a filthy donut-eating WAACo he is. After all I've made a very expensive commitment to forgeworld with a full Elysian army. However since the beginning of 6th edition. Forgeworld (never known for their competent designers) has been truly wreckless in their rules. Units now range from nonsensical to game breakingly powerful - even in casual play. See the thudd gun or their librarian special character for reference. They just don't seen willing to take responsibility for their own rules.

Add to this their constant dishonesty in the face of direct questioning and I can no longer claim to be a forgeworld advocate. I love my elysians dearly but have come to loath the company.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

I applaud the segregation of forgeworld but as an Elysian player I can't help but wonder whats keeping all these events from allowing me to participate with my actual forgeworld army list?

This precedent was set some time ago and we as a community seem unwilling to shake it. What are forgeworld army lists bringing to the table that's worse than just 40k approved? More fear of the unknown and vicious cycles of ignorrance it seems.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Don't invest in a forge world army - especially not before they update the army list they said they were going to update a year ago. Elysian armies don't work right now and given the complete lack of testing in FWs latest offerings there's no guarantee they will work after the update (I waited years for a D-99 update that was put together in 5 minutes).

Relevant experience: over 100 games with elysians and airborne ig in 6th. 50+ games of airborne gk.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Throne of Skulls does this and attendees seem to enjoy it. Radical Inquisitors would ally with anybody.

The fact that it fails miserably to convey the character and variety of those very colorful forces is another thing entirely.

Necrons are also much more flexible in their current iteration than they used to be.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

The problem, as always, is where do you draw the line? Would we be having the same discussion if Nightscythes were 400 points each?

Re: 40K: The Flyer Division - Haves and Have Nots | Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

I don't see how that response is relevant to what I posted. You're commenting on a RAW vs. fluff discrepancy but I'm saying RAI is necessary to play the game.

Remember when BA rhinos had no doors? Were you not going to let your BA opponent use his transports because of RAW?

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

It's worth noting that 30k marines don't have And They Shall Know No Fear - they can be run down in combat making large squads a bit of a gamble.

No chapter or combat tactics either.

Re: 40K: The Flyer Division - Haves and Have Nots | Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

I think he meant to type "Chaos Space Marines" but whatever.

In the case of Crash and Burn for Necrons I have to side with the the obvious RAI. The passengers are not in their transport at all and so forcing them to take hits when the plane is destroyed makes very little sense.

I understand that RAI is a slippery slope in a game that rarely 'makes sense' but in some cases I find it hard to ignore the intent of the author.

Re: 40K: The Flyer Division - Haves and Have Nots | Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Penetrating hits deal lasting damage to flyers where as an FMC with one wound is actually as capable as it was before it was shot at.

For flying transports there's also Crash and Burn.

Re: 40K: The Flyer Division - Haves and Have Nots | Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Valkyries are pretty well costed given their limited firepower wouldn't you say? GW did a good job with flyer rules, generally speaking.

The problem is that Necrons ignore all of the limiting factors placed on flyers. They can evade without losing any firepower, they can disembark with virtually no restriction, and nothing happens to the passengers when a plane gets taken down.

Folks may point to the Vendetta and how undercosted it is but the detta is quickly losing relevance in the current meta. With so many lists eschewing vehicles for a strong foot-scoring presence the only role the Vendetta can play now is strong AA defense. A role that's typically only necessary because of the Nightscythe and other Vendettas.

Oh and managing three squadrons of 3 Valkyries is virtually impossible just so you know. 9 individual flyers is very different to 3 squadrons.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls

Alpha Legion got cultists.
