I feel really bad for the family and my heart goes out to them, but they simply cannot look at the facts in this case the actual visual and physical evidence. On a human level I can understand the denial they must feel knowing that their son's own negligence and judgment in the heat of the moment resulted in his death. That being said, what they are portraying is simply not logical nor is it supported by the facts. I think it would be best for everyone involved to allow Kevin Ward, Jr. to rest in peace and focus on his memory and legacy. My condolences to the family and may Kevin Ward, Jr. R.I.P.

MaryKay - I love your take on Payton Manning's mindset and the application of his demonstrated values as a model for each of us day to day. Much of what plays out on the sports field can serve as lessons for everyone who takes note. There are always lessons to draw from both challenges and defeat, learning and applying what one has learned makes the next victory all the more sweet. The opportunity to learn, adapt, grow, and emerge stronger is a super power we all possess and can draw strength from. Really great article and thank you for the inspiration credit... you inspire me too!

No parsing of words or as you say splitting hairs... just the unvarnished truth. I think this is a teaching moment but no one seems to be interested in calling the to order and beginning the lesson. Michael - I wanted to complement you on one of the most insightful reviews / interviews featuring Otis Taylor that I have read to date. As I read this today (December 29, 2013), I am impressed by the chronological details related to Otis' unique path to his amazing career.

One of the aspects I love most about Otis is the depth of feeling and sense of connection presented in his music and as your article details the choices made and motivation behind the creation of the signature instruments baring his name. I love that Otis respects his heritage and the legacy that he is leaving will have lasting value by broadening interest in blues music.

Thank you for writing such a great article which will help people who know a little about Otis gain added insight and thereby understanding. For those new to Otis and his music, this article will serve as a perfect foundation and starting point.

I have been watching @Susie_Wolff 's career over the past few years and I think she is a real talent. I was glad to see her @WilliamsF1Team test was a success. I also appreciate Susie's self assessment which I thought was honest as she completes another critical step in the process of earning an F1 seat. Congratulations to the management at Williams F1 for recognizing Susie's talent and providing her with a platform to express it!

Back in 2003 a business associate and I secured a corporate suite for that years Denver Grand Prix and based on its location hosted Danika Patrick, her father and mother for the CART Indy Car portion of the event weekend. Danika had driven in the Formula Atlantic event earlier for Rahal Racing. At that time it was apparent to me that Danika was both a passionate competitor and a future marketing machine... both of which are highly prized in every form of professional motorsports. Although I am a fan of Kyle Petty for what he has done both on and off the track, I do not understand why he has decided to make such misguided comments. Danika's record in many series speaks for itself and she has earned her chance in NASCAR Sprint Cup. Keeping in mind that this is her first full season in Sprint Cup I believe she should be given a fair chance to rise to the level of her potential, whatever that may be. As to her marketing prowess she is great for the sport and I would suspect both Stewart Haas Racing and NASCAR has benefited and will continue to benefit for years to come.

I was actively involved on the commercial and media side of the former CART in the mid 90s including the Andrew Craig era. I remember quite vividly the power struggle that resulted in the split of the series and the formation of the IRL. Indy Car racing is certainly the healthiest that it has been since those troubling days and I like Mr. Penske see a great opportunity to finally move Indy Car racing forward in a powerful way. The NASCAR model clearly works and the commercial success and major manufacturer support is a testament to this fact. U applaud Mr. Penske's comments and I would love to see the other stake holders likewise demand a higher standard of leadership going forward.

Dinah - Great article! I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Johnson a little more then a decade ago in Virginia associated with equestrian show jumping which Bob's former wife Shiela and daughter were actively involved in. He struck me as being an extremely bright man and very passionate about the mission of the BET network.
I think it is great to acknowledge the accomplishments of entrepreneurs based on their merit and knowing the right people by becoming an efffective networker is a high value merit to be sure. I really enjoyed reading this article.

Hello Lewis - Nice tips and great advice. A key point to remember about socila media is that once you press the send, post, or tweet button you are committed... as Donald Trump so painfully experienced last week you cannot delete or call your comments back. There are so many reposting tools and social sharing tools that immediately repost your content that it is impossible to take back what you later regret. So, I always advise people to be thoughtful when they post.

I am a bit of a fan of business oriented reality programs, so I watched the first episode of Start-Up on Monday. I was amazed by the misteps made by Ben and Hermione and as soon as Ben introduced himself as an owner of 42 companies across three continents that the pitch was over. Focus is a critical factor for business success and this was a major blunder.

Venture Capital communities are small... so pitches have to be measured and every opportunity must be maximized. If a venture becomes too shopped around, the community of venture capitalist will know about it lkely stay away from it. Great observations in your post.
