I doubt he majority of people playing this game will want to play with a manual transmission whilst so much stuff is going on around you. It's a concious design decision on the part of Criterion Games and a very good one at that.

Everything else you mention is person preference to be honest. Sure, split screen might be a deal breaker for some, but for most people it won't be at all. Funnily enough, me and a few guys from the website were playing this last night and had an awesome time just passing the pad around trying to beat each others times.

The free roam stuff you mention, again, I think the majority of people just won't care. They just want to get into races or hot pursuits as soon as possible, they want instant action...that is what this NFS Hot Pursuit is all about. It's about having adrenaline filled fun whilst driving super fast cars as a cop or a racer. It's not a succcessor, it's Criterion Games take on Hot Pursuit and it is a fantastic game. Sorry, you can't see that...but the majority of other people who have played the game most certainly can.

Re: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Review

Erm, this is NOT a realistic racing game. What you're saying is like complaining about a Kettle not being able to iron your clothes.

Opinion has it's place, but what you're stating here is quite ridiculous. If you want realism I suggest you try Gran Turismo or Forza. Apart from Shift, none of the other NFS games are bathed in realism. It's all about the "over the top" fun with NFS games, not realism. Regression of the NFS racing platform. You're wrong I'm afraid. What NFS Hot Pursuit does is take the series back to its over the top, crazy and fun roots.

Re: podcast

Another excellent comment. You make some entirely valid points about the whole PS3 vs,. 360 debate. It's always nice to hear other peoples opinions. As for GT5 and NFS HP, go for the latter. It's just pure awesome.

Re: PES 2011 vs FIFA 11 Podcast – Second Leg

Awesome comment. Thanks for listening. I pretty much agree with everything you said to be honest. I can't defend the penalty system though, it shouldn't need Einstein levels of complexity to take one. Baffles me, I know they are going to change that in PES 2012.

Re: Rock Band 3 Review

I think Adam stated something on using the standard peripherals.

"It’s important to state that pro mode doesn’t negate any merits of the non-pro modes and playing the cheaper standard bass or guitar modes are still enormous fun. If you should so choose you can play the keyboards in non-pro mode too and it is still fun. It’s safe to say, all the playable modes have value and merits of their own. If you don’t have the inclination to learn keyboard properly, there is no shame in paying the non-pro mode, it is just as fun."

Sums it up quite nicely I think. I guess it comes down to how much you love Rock Band and how much of a fan you are of the genre.

Re: GodisaGeek’s Top 5 Game Soundtracks

Let's get married...I love the MGS soundtracks too.

Re: Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 Review

Thanks for taking the time to read the review and commenting on it. Would love to hear why I am a fanboy. Unless you know me and my gaming habits deeply then I find it kind of strange you would be qualified to call me a fanboy. Yeah, I feel there is a too much of the "one or the other", which was understandable when one was sub-par and the other was good, but that's not the case now. Some sort of sprint ability as standard would have been nice I think. I don't think it is necessarily a risk either, they have just played it safe really which is understandable as they don't want to anger their hardcore/loyal fans.

Will be interesting to hear what you think of the game once you have played it.

Re: Halo: Reach Review

What about the CoD games?!

Re: Halo: Reach Review

Going by the review it looks like Aryel took into account the game hasn't changed much, which could be a negative for some. After all, I think ODST got marked down for the same thing in most reviews. He also talks about a few visual/graphical blemishes here and there. Then you have the sprint "ability", which I agree with him about, it shouldn't be an ability. You would think sprint would be a standard game mechanic these days, not an ability. Finally he mentions, the story not quite following the lore properly.

Dunno about you, sounds worthy of a 2 mark drop for me. I might not agree with it, but that's life. People have different opinions. 8 out of 10 isn't a bad score, it's very good.
