It's better for progressives overall. Gives independents a voice, a choice, and has the chance of bringing them into the Democratic party. It is also a chance for a protest vote without endangering Democratic chances in the general like with Nader in 2000. I think all Hillary supporters should stop trying to denigrate Bernie, and instead be thankful he is running in the primary rather than running in the general as an independent.

Both were patting each other on the back, it was a political give and take. For Obama, he basically got the endorsement of a Romney surrogate, for Christie he got the endorsement of the man who will likely win next week, thus giving him a strong position for reelection, and to run for prez in 2016. In this case both were basically using the other.

Don't know what all the fuss is about. What, people actually got to watching the extras to find this out? DVD came out in march, took people that long to get to watching the commentary(ok, guess I'm one of the few who actually watches the commentary)? Plus, why all the outrage over this, instead of all those lost in the Iraq war and all the damage caused to the economy by Bush? If they were so concerned with the dignity of the office of the president, what about stopping the vicious, illogical, false, slanderous, personal and often racist attacks against Obama?

Did read it. Just going after Obama for not being left enough is not constructive. Only points out the negatives, not the positives. Need to work with both. And I'm not saying I am not dissatisfied with him, just realistic. Pulling him down due to some sense of high morality isn't going to make things better. Historically, if we primary him or run third party candidate against him, a Republican will win and we will have screwed ourselves. To win and enact our policy positions we need to work building from the bottom up, not destroying from the top down.

For me I see the only choice right now is to support Obama. Yes, he does go right on issues, but how much further right would a Republican go? Either going through a third party challenge or primary Obama would not work, either way would lead to a Republican presidency for certain. This is not saying Obama would win if these factor were not there, there is a strong possibility he will lose given our support or not.

The problem we have are not the candidates but the fact that our system of government is republican, and we need to move towards one that is more democratic, imo. I for one wouldn't mind seeing our constitution amended to change our federal government to the parliamentary system, which would eliminate 'voting for the lesser of two evils' since any third party would have a good chance of getting a voice in the system.

It also helps diminish 'popularity contests' since you would be voting on the ideas and ideals of the party rather than on individuals. No more 'I just don't like that person' excuses, would force people discuss politics on the merits of ideas and policy positions. You can't have a beer with an idea.

Just want to clear things up, does government have a right to regulate any of these to a point, or not at all?

And to make clear where I stand, I'm all for gun rights, but only to a point. I believe in sensible regulation.

I'm with you on the 4th amendment on how far our government has gone with that. In fact I think it has mostly be shredded up and authorities have been given way to much power to get around the warrant part.

As for the religion part, I think that is necessary to prevent undue interference from religious institutions in our government. Government is not stating that one religion or another cannot exist or is not right, but is placing a threat against religion coming around and undermining or unduly influencing the government.

Affordability is not the issue. The definition of 'arms' in the second amendment is. People who call for unlimited access to guns never ever call for equal access to any sort of bombs, artillery etc. If their argument is that they need 'guns' to defend against their government if it goes rogue, then why are they not asking for equal access to any of these? The words clearly state 'the right of the People to keep and bear arms', nothing there about guns. If they were out to protect this right they would be calling for equal access to all arms.
They do not do this because they realize the government has every right to limit and prohibit access to all of these types of weapons, therefore government can do this with any type of 'arms', guns are not a special case. There is nothing in the constitution that protects guns specifically from this sort of regulation.

Actually splitting the votes could hurt either party in the Presidential election, to early to see which way the state would go anyway. And Dems have proposed doing the same thing in states they had control, so is normal political game on both sides. And don't forget, Obama did pick up a few electoral in Nebraska I believe which does split its EVs. Of course, PA does have a larger amount of EVs.

Easy way to solve this is either to 1) take away the decision from the states on how to split their EVs or 2) do away with the Electoral College altogether. I'd personally go with the latter since it really has no purpose other than to give power to the larger states.
