I'd rather Disney put the extra effort into the film to make sure it is the best it can be.

From what I heard, they were not too happy with what was presented and wanted the reshoots. They are really watching over the Star Wars IP closely.

Re: Fear The Walking Dead S01 Episode 01 – Pilot

No surprise here: http://variety.com/2015/tv/...

Re: Game of Thrones: S05 Episode 10 – Mother’s Mercy

I was floored with Jon getting ambushed like that. I saw what Kit Harington said though about it being his watching the bigger picture (White Walkers) and not what was happening right around him, so it did fit int the story. Done well though, especially after his great episode last week fighting the WW.

I thought Cersei's walk of shame was very well done. Great ending too with the Mountain being there.

I'm really disappointed with Drogon being so weak. I get it that he is not full grown, but in my opinion, dragon's would be more formidable. A great scene last week with her escape on him, but kind of anti-climactic with her stuck in a field, and nothing.

The Stannis battle was honestly boring. I guess battles in movies like Braveheart leave me expecting more from a scene like that. Never was a fan of him, and especially after the daughter sacrifice. Glad he's dead.

Good to see Theon waking the hell up, but seemed kind of a lame point to do it rather than the other opportunities he has had. And I'm with you Crystal, was the wall really the best way to escape???

Good season ending overall with the last few episodes.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser 2

The nostalgia hit me hard right with the beginning of Binary Sunset. In the EU she very lightly tapped her potential and was more of a politician.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser 2

I was pumped the second I heard Binary Sunset coming up. Nothing says Star Wars like that does, and it was a perfect opening.

Speeding across the desert is a vehicle that I was sure was Luke in his landspeeder. I expected they were going to fly in to zoom in on his face, and then I saw the downed Star Destroyer and was floored. Great impact!

Then Luke is doing the voiceover and saying one of my favorite quotes about his family and the Force. Immediately I know once they show Vader's mask, we are going to see Luke and Leia too.

Vader's mask is burned perfectly. Enough to show that it was put into the fire at the end of RotJ and look tragic, but not enough to lose its iconic shape. Good symbolism for the burns and disfigurement that Vader himself endured. I wonder if they will address who pulled the mask out of the fire, or why?

Luke has a robotic hand? What happened to the cool prosthetic? Surely technology got better rather than worse. Perhaps this gives him some extra ability, or is he using it as a reminder of his battle with his father and what he can become if he falls to the Dark side. What? He didn't turn to show his face???

Leia's scene only shows her hand as she receives a lightsaber. Leia never became very proficient with one of those in the Expanded Universe books, but maybe now they make her more trained. She was always proficient enough not to cut her own arm off like I would if I were handed one of those things, but it will be interesting to see if she actually went through some real Jedi training, which she avoided in the EU.

"You have that power too." Who is you? Luke's son or daughter? Leia's child? Grrr. It's still not December!!!

X-wings over the water. Reminiscent of the scene from the first trailer. Still have to see why they would be there though as they are built primarily for space. A training exercise maybe? Oscar Isaac's Poe definitely will need a better fitting helmet.

The tri-saber! I have no problem with it personally, as long as they show an advantage or at least different usage with the crossbar. A quick slash and a glimpse of the user. I love that sound!!

OK, we have our two main stars and little BB8 on the run with explosions behind them. Got it!

Close up of the bad guy! That mask first made me think of Revan of the Old Republic games that Bioware made. Not a bad motif to copy to me as I loved those games and Revan's story. Obviously this is a completely different guy, but that was the first thought that popped into my head with this scene.

Lots of stormtroopers. Check! Stormtroopers second greatest skill, outside of terribly missing targets they shoot at, seems to be amassing in large numbers in tight formation. Too small to see who is standing on the stage behind them in front of the giant Imperial looking flag. That logo though is NOT the Imperial logo! An offshoot perhaps?

Quick close up of Daisy Ridley's character, Rey looking serious. Definitely similar features to a young Leia. I'm guessing daughter of Leia and Han.

TIE fighters incoming, and being blown up, and John Boyega (Finn) stressing out as he removes his Stormtrooper helmet. Possibly he is going to be a defecting Stormtrooper?

Well, not all the Star Destroyers are gone! These ships (not TIE fighters) are heading up to one. They seem to be escorting a shuttle craft of some sort.

Dark Trooper with a rifle walking in a hallway. Good look on him. There are a lot of different types of Troopers in the Empire, so it will be good to see if he is just representative of a platoon of some sort or a main type of character. With how long he was in this trailer, I'm thinking he has a bit of a story.

BB8 has a lot of personality already with the little bit we've seen of him. That peek around the wall is well done to keep the loving on him. I love that he is a real practical effect and not CGI.

Millenium Falcon! Millenium Falcon! Millenium Falcon being chased by TIE Fighters! And in a tight space where the maneuverability will be put to the test. I love this. Wish they showed a bit more than just the random missed explosion.

Anthonby

We got an old face! It's Han and Chewie, and the "We're home" line is perfect for the trailer. I wonder what it's meaning is in the film. In this shot, Han is looking great for his age. Chewie always looks great for his age.

Overall a really great trailer and December cannot come fast enough!

Re: Star Wars Movies: Main Table

I agree. If I were in this situation, I would be wondering what I'm fighting for often. This glimmer of hope at a semi-normal existance is important to the story.

Also I liked the interviews in front of the camera, and Glenn slapping down that idiot, complete with Maggie's little smirk.

Darryl though definitely is more built for the wandering loner, than this small town life.

Anthony

Re: The Walking Dead: S05 Episode 11 – The Distance

I thought the car scene where they were running through an entire herd of zombies was great. It was great to see the inner workings of what was going on in Tyrese's mind while he was dying. Once in a awhile they need to be more light-hearted like Guardians of the Galaxy was, but it has to work well. GotG pulled it off great, but it can ruin an otherwise good movie.

Ant-Man is not one I follow so can't really say I'll be watching this one.

Re: Star Trek: The Original Series (1966): Main Table

I was the kid sitting in front of the TV at midnight every night watching TOS on channel 11 in New York City, when I had school the next day. I personally didn't think it portrayed enough of the emotions the book gave us to motivate that response in someone who was unfamiliar with the series to begin with. Glad to be wrong and have more people experience the book.

Re: Ender’s Game Fan Reactions

My Ender's Game impressions. SPOILER FREE

I have been waiting for this movie since I read the book and was excited and nervous about it at the same time. Luckily I only read the book a year ago and wasn't waiting 20+ years like many others.

I enjoyed it and was very satisfied with the representation of the book that they pulled off.

It of course omits a bunch of things and I wish it was longer. It feels a bit rushed, which is understandable, but if they would have added maybe a half hour it could have had a bit better pacing.

A problem I had with the movie was you are being spoon fed information that the book portrays with the plot. They tell you things that the book makes you realize. Again this is due to the amount of time in a movie and trying to get all the story out in under 2 hours.

The movie looked great and the liberties they took with the book worked well and I think they made some good choices. The pivotal scenes were not like you may remember them, but they do have the weight of importance they need to portray.

What this movie is not is a film that will get those who have not read the book to want to run out and read it right away. It shows Ender and what he went through and you get a feeling for it all, but there is nowhere near the emotional investment the book provides. It's a good movie though for someone who just enjoys a good sci-fi movie with some depth to it.

Absolutely highly recommended for any fan of the book. You will not be disappointed if you keep an open mind to know it is a movie and not the 17 hour epic that the book rightfully should be to really tell the story.

High recommendation for any science fiction fan who is not a reader of the book. It's a good sci-fi movie without being about a super hero. Enjoyable action and the visuals look great. Solid story and you wind up with the feeling of the depth of the story and emotions that good sci-fi provides.

For those that are not fans of the books or science fiction, it's a good movie. You might be a bit detached or if you get hooked will go for it, but not going to hit critical mass with the major market in my opinion. Hoping it does well enough to warrant the sequel.

Re: EnderWiggin.net Welcomes New Staffer Anthony

Thanks Major!

Re: ENDERS GAME: The Next Sci-Fi Or Political Thriller? - News - GeekTyrant

While the guy is a first rate a-hole, the stories he wrote are first rate sci-fi literature.
