Time will come when Apple decides to clean the place up ... for visual reference of what is to come, Google up a view of Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son."

As far as the c-word goes, it's definitely a cultural thing. Sarge uses it around the office all the time. But then, he's an Englishman with eleven concussions (that he can recall), so he probably shouldn't be our touchstone.

Re: Mensas At Meat Couch

Two great ideas that go great together. We'll have to scratch that off the list.

BUT we are going to be first to market with our Bath Tub Ring App. It features step-by-step photos of how to leave a ring of hair and dirt in any bathtub. We had a camera crew out to the Secret Worldwide Headquarters yesterday to film the "making-of" video, and we'll be posting it on YouTube as soon as we can block out Sarge's naughty bits.

Re: The Dumbing Of Apple

After beating our brains out at Appy these past long months to bring an App to market, I have to admit ... I'm kind of jealous.

This would be Andy Warhol's favorite App.

Re: A New King Of KRAPPS

Won't happen, because I'm NOT GOING to that movie!

And as much as I hate to criticize other developers, after looking at the demo video of the PeepShow App, I'm not going to get it after all, no matter how bootilicious the models may be. That coin-dropping interface looks like the opposite of fun. Include me out.

Re: A New King Of KRAPPS

I must have this.

Re: Multiple Personality Disorder

Give the guys a break. Another benefit is that our wireless reaches down to the pub, too, which is why I can write this reply while enjoying a drink with the Man U - W. Brom match on in the background ...

Agree with you on Twitter as a litmus test. We don't have any branding or PR experts on the pad at Appy (I consider myself a talented amateur) but the rules are changing, and places like social media are so new that in a lot of ways a new company with little to lose and no history of doing things "the right way" has an advantage over bigger, more entrenched firms. We've been publishing what we've learned from our do-it-yourself PR and marketing effort at our Appy Place blog (which is another distinguishing characteristic of Indie shops -- we seem more eager to share our learning than is the case with corporations, or maybe we just do our networking in an open and virtual way, because we can't afford to send our guys to trade shows to smooze it up and wear out their expense accounts).

Re: Great Indie Bake-Off 2008 concluded: A beginning of something great

We at Appy Entertainment delighted to enjoy the ill-gotten fruits of victory!

Actually, Peter, you comments about the Indie spirit are I think correct, and echoed by Chris Ulm in today's blog posting at Appy Place ... for all that this was fun to do, I can't imagine a Bake-Off contest coming together back in my big publisher days. We just couldn't move fast enough, and when you get above a certain size, it is almost as if everything becomes insincere. Even the best of intentions get perverted when they pass through too many meetings and legal reviews.

Would love to do this again in 2009 -- we should be a real company by then and would be proud to offer prizes and sponsorship. Thanks for hosting!

Re: Mister M.

If you had all of those calendars on your phone at the same time, after a couple months, would they synchronize with each other?

Re: App Eat App

No one messes with WeatherX.
