I will offer feedback (and will to accept it too), but not criticism. Criticism implies negative. I might have used a more appropriate title for this article. Constructive criticism is even more confusing. As Mark Sanborn says Constructive is building up; Criticism is knocking down. Why would you do that?

Re: Disable a WordPress Plugin Without Access to Your Admin Area

Thank You. My thoughts. If you use a # hashtags for an event, put to out there ahead of time and make sure all your peeps are consistent. For example if your hashtag for an annual event is #beer, make sure that everyone uses #beer, not #beerevent, #beer15 or #beer2015 etc... The other thing to keep in mins is that if it's too long it eats up a lot of the valuable 140 characters.

Re: Media Monday Edmonton: Update #169

Superb recap as usual. I suggest to anyone who responds to these types of requests is that they read and then reread what's being asked...not just "scan(glance over) and reply" which I know many people do. My only suggestion is the point about follow up. I'd make sure I let people know what that process is up front so they know what to expect. Thanks.

Re: Edmonton Notes for 7/26/2015

Thanks for the update Mack! No time to vote? Boo hoo hoo. I'm busy too - particularly this coming Tuesday. That said, I've already voted. That's why they have advance polling. No lineups, no delays. There was only one other person there in a big huge auditorium. Maybe take one less trip to Timmies for that double-double. That might give you the time you need.

Re: Monitor your jumps with VERT wearable

Vert for iPhone is free; Vert Coach is $99.99

Re: 5 Tips for Communicating Complex Subjects

Thanks for the tips. I like to use analogies or examples that the audience can relate to. I remember taking a calculus course years ago and I vaguely recall some math concept which i didn't fully grasp until my economics teacher explained it as Price elasticity. The term itself didn't connect, but the analogy of the change in demand when prices change really hit home when he used the example of bread and steak. As the price of steak rose, demand would drop, but as the price of bread rose, demand more or less stayed the same.

Re: Edmonton Public Library (EPL) continues to write the book on innovation

I learned something new today! As The GadgetGuy.ca When I want a detailed zoomed in photo of a gadget, I get tiny low res embedded lifestyle pics where it's hard to see the actual product or useless when cropped out.

Some pitches arrive in my inbox with a bunch of zipped 5-10MB pics which I prefer not have to spend the time opening on my iPhone. Haven't they heard of Dropbox or even better sending a link?

Pics aside, I also get pitches for in-person interviews. People assume I'm in city where the head office is when in fact, I'm 2,000 miles away and what's worse, sometimes I just get teasers, but to know more I have to set up a time to speak with the CEO.

My readers like to know when a gadget is going to be available, where and how much. Something that is often missing and I have to go and chase down.

With that said there are some really great PR Pros out there. They understand your beat, know when to e-mail/phone and even go out of their way to connect even if you are in a different time zone and whether it’s 11PM on a Friday night or Sunday
afternoon.

Re: Sharp Canada Exits Consumer TV

Sad day.
