On another note motor boating is listed on there lol

Re: Reaction After a Week and a Half with the Galaxy Nexus

I love mine too. From looking at the basic battery stats breakdown I'd guess it's the gigantic screen drawing the increased juice + the LTE radio.

Re: A “Fandroid” Forced to Use an iPhone 4 for Two Weeks

Now I have to get on here an defend myself. Definitely not my fault the battery was drained...spent the afternoon letting Ben play with ICS =P

@David Chu Now that I'm on a more normal usage cycle I can't make it pretty much 2 days on a single charge, but I typically charge it at night when I get home. A review on Anandtech also shows that the GSM version of the Nexus has even better battery life. So if one were to stay away from 4G the battery life isn't an issue at all. The main drain on the Nexus is powering the enormous (but gorgeous) screen.

I'm really happy with the phone so far, but I'm sure the iPhone 4S is treating you perfectly well too.

Re: Developing a Tricorder

At least from the press release it seems like this should be very useful since it's designed only to spit out pulse, body temp, and respiration. I'm real curious what else they can use that doppler effect to try and measure. I wonder if you could eventually use it to detect heart problems (e.g. malfunctioning valve due to lack of movement).

Re: Quick diagnosis of swine flu strains

Hi Mahmoud, I'm not directly affiliated with InDevR or the CDC in anyway. If you'd like more information I would suggest contacting InDevR at their website linked in the article or communicated with the CDC. Here's a new article discussing the kit itself. http://www.physorg.com/news...

Re: Are you positive it’s positive?

Yeah I'm sure as time goes on statistical methods will continue to evolve and help eliminate the issues that Nei's group found. I agree it's unfortunate that this was contributed in PNAS too. I'd love to hear from anyone that's more well versed in these types of analyses and their take on how accurate Nei's simulations were. The experimental data comparison to me was the most compelling portion of the paper.

Re: The Promise of Imaging Mass Spectrometry

From what Eric wrote I think it just utilizes slices with which you can recreate the depth perception from, awesome innovation though. Btw welcome back to our prodigal blogger.

Re: Cluster of PS3s break MD5-SSL

Wow, this is pretty impressive. Just another example of how ridiculously powerful the Cell can be.

Re: Distribute compute

If only we could harness the power of people utilizing social networking sites like Facebook/Myspace.

Re: Filtering Cancer

Yeah I don't have the access to the paper yet either, should be published soon from what I can tell. From what I understand TRAIL is cancer cell specific. I'll forward you the paper when I see it published.

Re: Lost: Data

Yeah I'll be looking into that. I really wish my institution had their own repository that they promoted and made (at least partially) open. It'd probably make PIs much more comfortable about submitting data in that fashion.

Re: A New Breakthrough in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Something that caught my eye from the article @ Technology Review: "And for the first time, doctors could use it to examine patients with pacemakers or other metallic implants that can't be exposed to powerful magnets."
