Just like I said to the other guy, that's most likely going to blow up in Shigaraki's face. He wasn't finished and it looks like there would be no way to finish this arc without either him or Deku winning a showdown if there isn't something that goes wrong. Ya'll are acting like this is a straightforward, black and white case of "Sudden upgrade." It's not. There are variables here that have not been put into play yet. How about, instead of criticizing the idea before it's fully realized, wait and see how this all turns out, because I'm 100% certain this isn't what either of you are thinking.

Congrats! You are now part of the elite who get to watch as the internet explodes when the anime people get to the good parts without having to get caught up in the blast. It was so much fun to tell people to get excited for the arc when season four began airing, then watch as they lost their mind at the Overhaul fight. Now you, too, get to experience that sense of satisfaction for getting other people hyped up so they can enjoy it more. :D

And I think that's an incredibly petty reason to not like it. Seems like you're just trying to find some reason to complain rather than an actual legit problem, because this does not feel like a problem that takes away from anything unless you dwell too hard on it. Shigaraki's own quirk DID evolve from the fight with Gigantomachia. The rest of it was All For One transferring his power into Shigaraki.

I think you're really confusing Shigaraki's story for the Hero's Journey, where the hero has to grow stronger in order to defeat the powerful villain. The thing is, Shigaraki isn't the hero. He's not supposed to be an underdog who eventually gets powerful enough to defeat the hero. He's supposed to be a wall that the hero has to surpass, and honestly, it's felt like he's become pretty useless as a villain for a while now.

That's why this change is so interesting on my end. Usually you see a villain that is always powerful and doesn't really change throughout the story. He's always powerful. He's the power ceiling that the hero has to reach or find a way to crumble before they can really save the day. And that's always felt so one note to me.

Shigaraki, on the other hand, has been a top tier villain, a henchman, a frightening presence, a weakling, and now he's back on top again. He's way more three dimensional than a lot of villains in that respect. And a tube does not feel like a huge issue.

I suggest you check back on chapter 223. And I quote:

"More than a month and a half has passed since then. And Gigantomachia has yet to acknowledge Shigaraki. For 48 hours and 44 minutes straight, this lug will keep on attacking us without a moment's rest, and after that he'll sleep for just 3 hours before resuming his attack."

"This has been the situation for the last month and a half. Shigaraki has barely slept."

It went on for more than a month. They fought for days without sleep. And they only had three hours of rest when they got some before the fight began again. Shigaraki barely slept during this time. Three hours of sleep in two days does NOT make for a very good amount of sleep at all. There is also an indication that they would attack Gigantomachia while he slept, and the fight would resume immediately, meaning they didn't always take that three hour rest.

Also, his friends rotated out to get supplies and rest and stuff, but Shigaraki was always in the fight because Gigantomachia would ONLY come for him and would find him anywhere he went.

As for a power up, Shigaraki's original power exploded during the Redestro fight, leveling a few blocks in the process. Redestro had to cut off his own legs to avoid disintegrating. Shigaraki already had huge upgrade before the pod. This occured in chapter 238, for reference.

None of it was an asspull.

Shigaraki fought Gigantomachia for days straight without sleeping, until Gigantomachia collapsed and fell asleep. When Gigantomachia woke up, the fighting resumed. This wasn't a one time thing, it was a months long process in which Shigaraki was constantly fighting for his life and had to get stronger specifically for the purpose of proving that he could succeed All For One to the behemoth. It wasn't until this process was complete that Shigaraki was put into a tube.

An asspull is when an event or person comes out of nowhere with no lead-up or precedence. As stated before, this was hinted at for a long time. It cannot be an asspull for that very reason.

Also, I have no doubt that there was some sort of mental conditioning while he was in the tube. It's a trope done quite often in science fiction when people are tubed, for various reasons. After all, there was mental conditioning for Nomu, Mr. scientist-guy-whose-name-I-can't-remember even said the ones that were released were not yet finished because they can't act on their own will in this chapter. Shigaraki most likely learned how to use his new abilities by way of this conditioning.

And another thing, remember that Eraserhead couldn't erase his strength. That means his strength is a part of his physical body, not because of some quirk he has to activate.

I also believe the fact that Shigaraki was awakened early will play a part in how this arc ends. Most likely he'll have to deal with some failure in his abilities or something and escape. That'll probably lead to him having to do some more training to fix the problem.

Both of you are wrong. Shigaraki is a dark reflection of Deku. Remember in the first chapter where Deku had no quirk at all? Then he had to do all that training before All Might gave him One For All? Well, Shigaraki did all that training with Gigantomachia, and then he was given the power of All For One. Both of them had to work for the power, and both of them were given it from someone else. But Shigaraki is a villain, not a hero, so he should already be incredibly powerful so that you can see just how much the hero needs to work to catch up. That's kind of a 101 for underdog stories.

This isn't a case of an asspull, either, because we've been given clues ever since All For One said that Shigaraki was his replacement. All the way back before All Might defeated him.

Both of those are legit reasons. If they don't have the parts, he dies when revived. If it's too corroded, even if they find those parts, they won't be filled in properly and the revived pieces will still fall off. Senku already tested this.

I think King has the special super power of luck on his side. Basically, he thought the kid was a monster in disguise, so he berated him. Turns out, the kid had an invisible monster behind him, and both the kind and the monster thought King was talking to the monster.

The reason I think King has luck as a super power is because this is so common of him. He's gotten credit for all of Saitama's early kills and some of his newer ones, he's managed to scare monsters off out of pure luck, and every time he seems like he's in trouble, something comes along and fixes it for him in a way that makes it seem like he planned it or was the cause of it.

Also, I haven't seen season two of the anime. Did it show the "King Engine" yet? If so, what does it sound like? Is it heavy breathing like in this chapter?

Yeah, that seems to be about right. Kids at that age usually grow pretty fast, so them being taller would probably be correct.

I dunno why it only just hit me now, but the three of them really look like they've grown up a bit since they escaped. Like, am I seeing things, or are they taller?

Does anyone remember if they've mentioned how long as passed since the escape?

I agree. I felt like it took a bit of a hit after they escaped Gracefield because of how it went from brain games to actual fighting and stuff. At this point, I still KINDA like the series, but I really preferred the brain games.

I've actually told people who don't read manga that I absolutely loved the first season of the anime, but have no intention of watching beyond that.

When that happens, you just need to wait out the queue. It'll take a bit, but you can alt+tab out and come back to check often. When it's done, you are cleared to enter whenever. It's the normal setup for when they have a lot of people on the server.

This is about being completely unable to log in, as in you cannot even enter the queue.

Kanji can be read multiple ways, so sometimes the author will put a kanji that has a basic reading and have a smaller set of hiragana right next to it that has a slightly different reading. This basically gives the kanji two meanings for the reader. Sort of like a pun, but only in written format.

Gengoro is like a combination of Han Jee-Han, the Gamer, and Genos. And those two seem to have a relationship similar to Genos and Saitama.

Blatantly copying another work is a sign of lazy writing. When writing a story, taking inspiration from other stories is not in and of itself bad, but you have to make the ideas your own instead of slapping them immediately to paper. I see potential in this series, though, so I'm going to keep reading. I hope it manages to grow its own personality in time.

Yeah, I'm not too impressed with this first chapter myself, but if I've learned anything from the comic I'm working on, it's that the hardest part is the beginning. And if I've learned anything from analyzing a lot of my favorite stories, it's that the first chapter is usually not the best representation of the whole series because the story is still trying to figure out its pace and methods. I'm going to give this story a chance because I see some potential.

And I'm the guy who said the author of Oumagadouki Doubutsuen had potential as a writer before he came out with My Hero Academia, so I feel I can trust my instincts on a story's potential.

Japanese. It's from Weekly Shounen Jump, which is the magazine that prints One Piece, Bleach, My hero Academia, Naruto, and others. Also, Chinese series are read left to right, just like western comics.

Anti-magic isn't magic, it's the cancellation of magic. An easy way to understand is, he has negative magic, but the reading that guy did only registered positive magic, of which he has zero.

I don't think the grimoire came from him, or the library, or the town. It's heavily insinuated in that last panel that it came from the dead demon.
