Maybe it's to give him somewhere to flee if we can ever hold him accountable for anything he's doing? He'd consider this a personal chit and since he's doing it with taxpayer money instead of his own money, it won't cost him anything. He doesn't give a damn if the US gets repaid or not.

This means rolling back the clock to an idealized time when men and women had set gender roles in society and life was more harmonious and wholesome.

More harmonious and wholesome for who? Not for people of color that were being kept down by racism and not for women who were relegated to the kitchen and having babies when they may have wanted to have a career. This reeks of conservative white men not being happy if anyone else but them are calling the shots...the epitome of privilege.

My main qualm about naming it the Department of Peace is that I believe that's what used in George Orwell's 1984 and we are getting way to close to what Orwell wrote about as it is at this point in time.

Exactly! If the government can prove with evidence that he should be deported, then that is legal. However, not even being afforded the due process to disprove the allegations ultimately means that no one is safe from this, American citizen or not.

Isn't this the equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears and saying "La La La, I can't hear you"? Also, with no good information of incoming storms and weather, that will result in far higher casualty rates...especially in states that voted for the orange idiot where there seems to be much of the severe weather.

Well, this is one way for Trump to create more uneducated people that he so "loves". It's incredibly disgusting how he would target museums and libraries when it would most likely only "save" about a quarter of a billion dollars per year and be a divestment in culture and education. When it comes to investments in education, they usually pay off far more than the money invested in it.

Let's say, for argument's sake, that the White House is the sole arbiter of which journalists and new outlets have access. This current "administration" would then only allow in who they consider friendly journalists who will simply parrot White House talking points as news. That means that anything coming out of those events will be less fact and more filtering of the event in a light that is favorable to the White House. Personally, I think that borders on propaganda where the White House controls what comes out since it will be through journalists they deem as friendly (i.e., only right-wing journalists).

Very interesting article! Ardern's leadership was one of the main reasons that New Zealand seemed to weather COVID and the pandemic as well as it did. Also, New Zealand is a phenomenal country for anyone that gets the opportunity to visit it!

I agree that Hamas is hateful and what they've done is evil. I only caution that when we start dehumanizing any person, no matter how evil, it contributes to dehumanizing everyone. The illustration as rats and referring to them as vermin is dehumanizing and history shows that when people are dehumanized, it never goes well.

A rare example of bi-partisanship regarding women's healthcare. The fact that the male-majority SC Senate wanted to put the health of a 1/4" potential baby over a living, breathing actual female/woman just makes me shake my head and further convinces me that, to them, it's all about control. Pro-birth is not pro-life.

I would want to see Republicans in office try to discredit this as it's from conservative judges from the Federalist Society using originalist interpretation of the 14th amendment. They'd be in more knots than a barrel full of pretzels.

I hope Georgia and other states disqualify him from the ballot and let him fight it out in court.
