What really is funny is reading what the Braley excuse-makers throw out there on the DM Register's on line article. Nothing to see here folks. Just a misunderstanding. Bruce apparently has a hearing loss.

His inability to tell the truth is of no consequence. I used to think Braley was careless. He's proving himself to be a clown. Like Cousin Eddie said, he's "the gift that keeps on giving, the whole year around." Let's get out of the way and let him keep it up.

Iowa update: Braley, who has never lived on a farm, owned a farm, derived income from a farm is now claiming to be as farmer. Another big "oops" from the guy who thought he was a shoo-in.

Excellent article, Kevin. Your organization has to keep this up because it's the only thing that forces the Register and other MSM outlets to scrutinize Braley's record. Oh, and you missed one big lie. That would be Bruce Almighty's statement after the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision. Braley's said: "It’s deeply troubling that today the SupremeCourt decided that corporations can now unilaterally deny their employees access to birth control."

That is a blatant lie and the Democrats' plan is to make it fact via lazy or biased reporters and social media postings. It's the lie they circulated about Romney, via Facebook, and it worked. Many believed Romney wanted birth control banned. It was an absurd claim that took hold. Braley's surrogates and big money liberal organizations will try to do the same to Joni Ernst. Reporters and news organizations that refuse to challenge the lie should themselves be challenged and held accountable.

Braley lied about the Hobby Lobby decision. I would hope an honest reporter would question him about it while the cameras are running.

These ads are fine, but in the end they're just noise to most people. Braley has given Ernst and the Republicans a terrific opening. He's made a fool of himself and it's time to mock him.

He claimed to be a farmer. Take it further. "I'm an astronaut," says a guy in a space suit. "So am I," Braley says. Have Braley claim to be a brain surgeon and a big league baseball player.

"I'm a trial lawyer," says a guy in a suit.
Braley: Total silence.

Make fun of the guy. People will remember that. Turn him into the joke he is. It works.

The big question: Will the Des Moines Register and other Iowa media organizations get on this story and report Mr. Braley once again is making a fool of himself? I say it's 50-50 they'll cover Braley's behind and pretend he didn't initiate this foolishness over four chickens. Good for you, Jeff Patch. You've proving yourself to be the best political reporter in Iowa.

Three days since this fine article appeared on iowarepublican.com and still nothing in the Register. The newspaper that made a huge issue, including an op-ed piece attacking something Joni Ernst's once husband posted on Facebook, won't go near embarrassing action by candidate Braley.

It appears Jeff Link of the Braley operation is doing a great job managing the political news at the Register. Too bad for Braley but the Register's non-coverage of the story will mean little in the end. The once-great newspaper's relevance grows as its circulation drops.

You're absolutely right, Craig. The Ernst campaign did a masterful job. The Braley people clearly thought they had a campaign-changer and Ernst's team swatted Brucey like he was a pesky gnat. Ernst also played the Register beautifully, getting out front with a positive Page 1 story and turning the "blockbuster" into an inside-the-paper ho-hum sidebar.

Great analysis and much-need kick in the pants for all of us, Kevin.

My other response is there is some justification for a lack of enthusiasm in the Senate race. The Democrat money machine has been relentless in going after Ernst and we see little response from our side. The latest is the TV ad that almost certainly is convincing many seniors that Ernst wants to “cut Social Security.” It’s a complete lie delivered in one of the most powerful ads I’ve ever seen. The answer: Ernst smiles at the camera and says she likes Social Security. Ernst is in the pocket of big oil and the evil Koch brothers. Ernst doesn’t believe in ethanol, they tell us. The Iowa Corn Growers apparently believe that one because, incredibly, they’ve endorsed Braley. There is no question the Ernst campaign has allowed Democrat money to define her and there is no excuse. Zero.

The apparently unwillingness to hit back hard or go on the attack frustrates me and my Republican friends. I know people who have decided to withhold any further contributions to Ernst’s campaign. They tell me they’re wasting their money, since her campaign has blown her momentum coming out of the great primary victory. They see her heading toward a loss because she is not doing what is necessary to defeat the most liberal congressman in America.

I know people who have expressed this concern to the state party and the Ernst campaign. These lifelong, dedicated Iowa Republicans are met with silence or glares. They will vote for Ernst, but plan to withhold their contributions and not bother to make calls on the campaign’s behalf or knock on doors.

It’s really too bad. Ernst still has the chance to knock off Braley, but things had better change soon in what has become a disappointing campaign.

She has agreed to only one more debate because she is a dumbbell and her handlers know it. She answered the way she did on not revoking passport terrorists' passports because she doesn't understand the issue. The only thing she was sure of during that painful hour is that she's a mom. Last night's debate was a disaster for Appel and that's why she fled the scene. Democrats certainly are horrified by her performance and lack of knowledge and Young should be relentless in his attacks on this woman who is an embarrassment to Iowa.

Young should be way up (and maybe he is) on Spacey Staci, but it doesn't seem reasonable to compare the effectiveness of his ads to those of Grassley and King. They are incumbents who are well known to Iowans. Their ads reinforce their image and make people comfortable with a vote to re-elect. Young's ads need to introduce him to voters. The "good meal" ad was awful. The new ad is OK, but I doubt it inspires the base or influences the undecided. His ads, and those from the national party, also can define Appel. Going after a vote for flower pots won't scare anybody away and that's what is necessary. She's a dingbat. Show us, for Heaven't sake.

It's the same situation with Ernst. We know who she is already. We know Braley missed VA committee meetings and he isn't interested in working for farmers and rural communities. Why doesn't Ernst wrap the Obamacare noose around his neck? What about the EPA vote last week? Ernst's campaign and ad staff continues to let Braley and the Democrats get away with blatant lies and they have demonstrated they don't want to hear from loyal Republican voters on the matter. They've indicated we should shut up, send money and let the political professionals handle things. That's too bad. Maybe Young and his people will get their act together in time to head off an Election Day disaster, but time is running out.

You're right, "fired up," the Register is covering for Appel as well as Braley. The newspaper is totally misrepresenting Staci the Dope on her passports-for-terrorists statement. They are complicit in creating a lame excuse for her devastatingly stupid statement. Check the coverage the day after the debate. Her comment wasn't even mentioned. The newspaper backfilled for Braley on the EPA vote as well, neglecting to report in their meandering article that he was the only member of the Iowa Congressional delegation, Republican or Democrat, to oppose the interests of the state's farmers and landowners. Braley doesn't march to the tune of Reid as much as billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer, who has put a gun to the head of every Democrat in the country. Steyer's NextGen tells Bruce to squat, Bruce asks "what color, sir?" Don't plan on reading anything truthful about either campaign in the Register.

I forgot to mention that the Register's Web page — the cover of the Web page, mind you — still has a giant picture display of Bill and Hillary Clinton with the Harkins from their visit to Iowa ONE WEEK AGO. It's a free Hillary for President ad. All of it is a shameful display from a news organization that still claims to be legitimate. The truth is, they barely even pretend.
