There's a new book just published by O'Reilly this week on how to use SlideShare to grow your business. The lead author was the community manager and editor for SlideShare from 2010 to 2013. http://www.amazon.com/Prese...

Re: The Innovator’s DNA

Good addition about the importance of being able to communicate your vision!

Re: Case Study on How Collaboration Drives Innovation in Emerging Economies

Can you tell us about the winning solutions, such as what made them more innovative (as Brikke stated)?

Re: The Coming of Elijah: Part One “The Good”

Such a beautiful baby, congratulations Tara!!

Re: Anonymity in the Crowd

I've had some fascinating discussions with the open innovation community about this.

As I see it, the advantages of anonymity are:
1) Participants can be from a competitor or other day job. This broadens Trada's (or whoever the CS company is) access to experts who wouldn't otherwise participate
2) Participants can try their hand at something they may not be sure they're good enough to do (hence to keep a failure anonymous) - Again, this broadens participation & experimentation

To Neil's (and Cluadia's) question about rankings being more important than real names, I'd clearly want to know the person's optimizer rank, but I don't see it as an either/or.

If I were running the CS effort, I would ask participants to use their real names unless I felt that majority of my good contributors would be coming from competitors. My rationale is that real names just add more skin to the game and more transparency. It feels more real and more credible to know people's real names. Even though the agency is ultimately accountable, I feel more respect for the agency that has the courage to make names public.

On the flipside, perhaps anonymity of participants has the advantages of:
a) adding some allure (for marketing purposes: hinting at what great experts you may have)
b) protection (your best people can't be specifically identified to be lured away).
c) gives the agency more freedom/power if key people leave. Perhaps gives the agency an "exclusive" feel in that they have vetted the people.

Nonetheless, my opinion is that I'd go for real names and credibility of transparency which that decision brings.

@AndreaMeyer

Re: Thoughts On Ignite Boulder 8

I am so impressed with the results: 830 people, 500 concurrent online views and $2072 donated to the Food Bank! Andrew, you and all the volunteers did an awesome job! It was my favorite Ignite (so far!) with such great presos & introductions. Thank you! @AndreaMeyer

Re: From Social Media to Social CRM : a recent experience with airlines

Thanks for your informative, detailed post, Bertrand! This is a great example of a how a company can effectively use Twitter to engage with its customers (and new customers) in a meaningful way. Your addendum note is telling as well: the airlines that communicated with their customers during the crisis and those who didn't.
Thanks!
@AndreaMeyer

Re: Connecting the Dots Around The Customer: It’s The CMO’s Responsibility

Thanks for your post - and especially the company examples illustrating who's doing things right and how!

Re: 12 Things That Suck About Social Media Consulting

A sobering post that rings true. Your unicycle story and the “Moab International Offroad Unicycling Championships” had me laughing out loud. You captured the essence of Boulder beautifully, and reinforced why it's so great to live here. Thanks!

Re: Business Casual - Back @cha: Using Twitter to Help Make My Business...

Thanks so much for this post! I'm giving a few "How to Get the Most Out of Twitter" presentations, and your blog post is an excellent example of how Twitter can help make your business better. I especially like your point, "I don’t read twitter. I mine it for business intelligence." That's a great view of Twitter's value in pointing people to useful information." If it's ok with you, I'd like to use your quote and will give participants the url to your blog in my handout so that people can read this whole post.

Thanks also for mentioning me for the Flickr/data visualization tweet. If you liked it, you might also be interested in the blog post I wrote explaining how businesses could apply that idea to measure intangible customer experience: http://workingknowledge.com...

Re: The Patron Saint of KM

You pose an interesting question about innovating in KM within the legal field. I did a quick search to see what has been written recently on this topic, and most of the material focuses on the tools and technology side. (I realize your blog is called "Above & Beyond" in an attempt to move beyond just the technology!) The challenge with tools, of course, is that if they force us into an unnatural or inconvenient process, they won't get used. The constraint to exploit may be: how can we integrate KM processes more naturally into our daily work patterns? What KM processes would aid our workflow rather than making new demands on us?

Re: Social Media: The End of “Bad News”

I've found Twitter to be an efficient way to get alerted to news that people feel is worth sharing - the medium is fast enough and the tweets are headline-length, so you get a quick taste and can follow the link for more. By following a diversity of people, I get alerted to more than I might find on my own. Best of all, I think there's a lot more good news out there that's being shared in social media than is being broadcast on TV.

Re: Ignite Boulder 3

An excellent event that brings the Boulder Tech community get together to see and celebrate local talent & energy!
