What does "working class" mean? Irrespective of income earned, I consider myself working class. I get up and go to work at least 5 days every single week. Also stop bashing the BPO industry. While its a stepping stone for many, the smart ones can build a career there. You would be surprised at what many in the management sector earn.

Delaying child birth does NOT mean a woman will NEVER have children. I was very focused on my career and travelling the world when I was younger. Eventually, I had my first child when I was 33 and the second one at 36. I believe it helped me to focus more on their development as I was done having fun.

Everyone needs to chill. This article is just sensationalist.

The sentiments would have more meaning if they were coming from older women. These are children, they should be focused on their education, career and enjoying their youth.

And they will import foreigners, pay them much more than locals, set them up in luxurious villas/apartments, assign drivers and give them generous bonus packages. All while Jamaicans struggle to go abroad so they can earn US$9.00 per hour to pick fruits and clean toilets. SMH!

Everything created by man is breachable. We just have to work with the system that gives the most protection at a given period and then keep updating. I think the problem is that companies will institute a new security measure and then get complacent and leave it in place for years.

While the names may not be readily known, I'm sure that the concepts are. Everyone understands a 'pardner'. A co-op is just an entity (formal or informal) where everyone pools their resources (money or labour) for the common good.

Jamaicans have been running small businesses since forever. Female higglers going to Panama to shop and selling goods on the streets, hairdressers and barbers working from their backyard, taxi operators etc. Those are all small businesses; it's not new.

Couldn't the vendors have formed a co-op and done that themselves? Why do we always need to wait for the government to create basic infrastructure? A primitive outhouse with a wash station would have been better than a plastic bag inside the stall.

Long Hill is not necessarily difficult to navigate whether it's wet or dry. The problem is the way some drivers use the road, the speed, their state of mind and sometimes the smoothness of their tyres. That said, we have been hearing about the supposed Long Hill bypass for many years and as far as I'm aware we are still in the discussion stage.

I'm sorry that innocents lost their lives in this unfortunate scenario.

I disagree with your last statement. Many understand the relationship between productivity and wage increases but some don't. The thing that perplexes me is whether or not Mr Byles learned that recently. If he did not see fit to share that knowledge when the public sector workers (including politicians) were being awarded increases, why is he sharing it now?

If the government is truly the largest employer, what they do should have more impact on the economy. As Metry Seaga opined, while Mr Byles is correct, the statement is insensitive.

What is good for the goose should be good for the gander.

We should also rethink the number of smaller passenger vehicles being imported. Instead of 10 Voxys (or similar) we could substitute 2 or 3 coaches or 4/5 Coasters. This is a small island and even if we could find the money, we will not be able to build enough roads.

To be honest $8000 per month cannot pay for all the things they are asking for - facility rental and maintenance, light, water and minimal security.
