You are because Gowalla doesn't lead you to RL items that other users hide.
If you're into actual treasure hunts then geocaching is for you, otherwise stick to the virtual world with Gowalla (for stamps/items) or Foursquare (for badges/mayorship).

By the way, holding Shift (PC)/Option (Mac) while clicking on Check of Update is a better method to update as you do not lose all your data. Still it is best to back up your data just in case.

When upgrading firmwares, is there an option to actually update the baseband?

Instead of using Twitterfeed, I skip that step and bring it straight into FriendFeed. Without it, I would've missed all of my Twitter @replies especially when Twitter doesn't classify a tweet as a reply if the @username isn't at the start of the tweet.

I suppose that's fair, you wouldn't want to download pictures which are 2MB while you're browsing on the mobile anyway.

Perhaps there's an option if we were to upload large resolution photos that a medium sized (640*480) thumbnails would be shown instead with a hyperlink to the original? Or even if the photo was just scaled down by the server to that size.

I was testing out the resolutions before the tweet about picture uploading and I was able to post 2 MP pictures but not 5 MP.

It's also stupid because if you open another website then your Gtalk session is closed and it will refresh when you return to it.

That means you pretty much have to stay there and not do anything else.
