Even if you are anti-abortion (and goodness knows even pro choicers are. We just believe in a woman's right to choose) this kind of censorship would block one from researching one's own position. Without personal responsibility there is social chaos. I read part of the Wired article about free will (I was genetically prevented from finishing it) and it made the point that the part of the brain that was in play was not the SUB but rather the UN conscious.

Take your "No free will" belief into a courtroom and you won't get too far. I hope I don't sound cowardly, though, when I cringe a little at the timing. The troglodytes in the G.O.P. will use this as a rallying cry to turn California, usually a reliable blue state with all of it's beautiful electoral votes, into a red state this November.

Having John McCain serve out the third term of G.W.'s term would be far worse for the country than waiting a year for gay marriage in California.

I hope I'm being needlesly worried up in here.

Re: It seems like everyone names their blog "Ramblings

Grant part of your point about McCain/Bush. That was an overstatement on my part brought about by the time running out on my computer time and my wanting to get that in. However, the two major issues to this campaign, IMO, are the economy and the war. About the economy JM wants to make the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy permanent.

About the war (which has crossed the HALF TRILLION dollar mark in cost already, not to mention the death toll for all involved) JM's 100 year statement speaks for itself. The United States has never been held in such low esteem internationally and it's easy to see why. WMD's, prisoner treatment at Guantanamo Bay, waterboarding, Abu Grahib, our inability to find Osama Bin Laden even though he broadcasts publicly. Mission accomplished, NOT.

As far as the environment is concerned, I just hope it isn't all too late. Acid rain was a proven fact during the Reagan presidency and his response was "Study, study, study." The G.O.P. is having trouble swallowing the fact that the Hip-Pye radicals that they laughed at for so long just may have been right.

Re: It seems like everyone names their blog "Ramblings

As a former liberal arts major I... what was the question again?

Re: It seems like everyone names their blog "Ramblings

California is a little more problematical than that. They are in their second term with a Republican Governator and before that they had Pete Wilson, another Republican. Orange County is a very red area with millions of votes. The Central and San Joaquin valleys skew red also. My home territory, California's north Coast is very red, albeit staistically inconsequential with fewer than 100,000 total population. The saving grace for California Democrats is San Francisco (America's bluest city) and the Greater Los Angeles basin which is more blue than red. Make no mistake, neigboring state Senator John McCain very much feels like the Golden State is in play this November.

God Bless the University of Oregon. It's probably the bluest community in the bluest city in one of the bluest states in America. Mark my words, though, this ruling energized the Republican National Committee and their message that Armageddon has reached our shores will be on an airwave near you soon. The No Spin Zone will call California "Pinheads" and "Hollywood Crazies" from now until the election. Sean Hannity hasn't wiped the smile off his face in days.

Re: The Life Of A Rocky Mountain Girl

Ah--CHOO!

Re: It seems like everyone names their blog "Ramblings

I haven't bought a patio set in years...but...have I mentioned my nose????
