Also, at the beginning of the episode in the hotel room Logan says to Veronica "Time to fake the donuts" which is a reference to the old Dunkin Donuts commercials where the baker says "Time to make the donuts." I never really understood if that was supposed to mean that Logan knew of the plan and was kind of hinting of that morning being the beginning of the plot of the "fake" breakup....

The album Veronica was listening to during her "breakup wallowing" was the soundtrack to The Virgin Suicides, which is a classic Sophia Coppola movie starring Kirsten Dunst. Its a bit of a depressing movie but a definite must-see (and the only Sophia Coppola movie I can actually tolerate).

I always thought that whole scene right after they leave the River Stix was so well acted and realistic! Veronica is always keeping her cool and I think that Logan is the only person that makes her really let her guard down and show her true emotions, which obviously just came pouring out then because of the stressful situation and her feelings/worry for him.

First of all, thank you for getting me through my half-marathon training today! I love pretending I'm watching TV instead of running.

-I love the snarky recaps! So much. Seriously about Cuba: How does Duncan manage to travel with an international passport and clearly no accent or ability to speak another language? No customs agent would buy that.

-about Leanne... Can she really even cash that 50k check? I'm assuming she can't and that even if she did, the Kanes could and would go after her to get the money back. No way Mrs. Kane would let that slide with her husband's ex-mistress.

- I really loved this finale when I first watched it, so intense! But I do agree about the reveal maybe being too random- It would've been fun to look back at some subtle clues sprinkled through the season. Also I think its a little interesting seeing how differently Lilly and Veronica reacted when discovering the secret video set up in the pool house. Although it did bother me at that point how exhausting the every-five-minutes of off and on Veronica and Logan were. "Oh you did shots off me? No biggie." "Oh you're taping me!? Its over." Just sit and talk it out already, girl! Haha

Anyway, reliving season 1 has been amazing. Can't wait for season 2! I assure you its a fun ride! ;)

The other thing that irks me is that (while I def don't know this first hand), I'm pretty sure if you're roofied you're kind of just knocked out (and taken advantage of), not just extra drunk and uninhibited therefor inclined to make out with popsicles and such. Although I suppose if the movie The Hangover holds any water on that subject, maybe I'm wrong!

This podcast makes my Mondays so much better! I love how I wake up dreading going in to work, until I realize I get to sit and work while listening to you guys.

Also so excited to hear you guys get to the twistier part of the season and just go back and forth trying to guess who the killer and/or rapist are.

Sidenote: Was it just me or did you find Carmen a little insufferable? I guess we can just chalk it up to high school problems always being blown out of proportion... or maybe I'm still not 100% clear on exactly what she was doing in that video.

Yeah, I've noticed/heard about them using the names of the crew and such. The one thing that always got me though, is (and I'm not sure how caught-up you are) that in season 3 there's a character named Bonnie Capistrano, which is crazy because I literally live down the street from a bar named "Bonnie's Capistrano." I mean that can't be a coincidence, can it?

I love Alyson Hannigan (Buffy was my very first TV obsession), and she's wonderful on HIMYM, but during the whole VM series I think she was mis-cast. I think this show for the most part has such great casting, but I never got around to believing/understanding Logan's sister, Trina, as a character. Her personality is so shallow and she's this wannabe hollywood starlet, I just don't think the casting fits.

I'm also glad you mentioned the issues with Veronica's mom, because I think that was another odd casting/character choice. I could never imagine her fitting with Keith but I especially couldn't imagine her having a lurid affair with Jake Kane! She just doesn't seem to quite fit the character they're trying to paint her as.

What always stood out to me about the Lily flashbacks is that she clearly outshines Veronica- who seemed so meek and extra-marshmallowy compared to Lily. And it always kinda bothered me that somehow within only a year's time, Veronica went from being so soft and girlish to the sassy and independent girl she is in the series.

Do we think that Veronica had only started working for her Dad after Lily's murder and after her mom left town? Because I'd have a hard time believing she developed such a skill in P.I. work in just a year! I think thats the one major thing about Veronica's character I would've liked to see explored more. It would've been nice to see glimpses of that grit and cynicism in the flashbacks and in her dynamic with Lily. I think even hints of that would at least illustrate her transformation a bit more, rather than her just becoming a darker person overnight.

Great episode as usual. To throw my theory into the mix about the Butler's Son and his Rolex, I think its safe to assume that this isn't his first go at ripping people off for large sums of money. Especially if he lives in what they're saying is "the biggest house in Neptune," I'm sure he's been getting by taking cash or other items on the sly for some time now.

Kudos to you guys for picking up on Veronica's issues this soon into the series. Honestly, the first time I watched VM, I sped through the series because I got hooked so quickly (and I suppose I had a lot of time on my hands), so I feel like I spent so long not diving too deeply into Veronica's flawed tendencies (jumping to conclusions, quick to accuse). But, as I kept going through and re-watching/reading, it did occur to me how interesting the writing is, that in certain episodes Veronica isn't always seen as the protagonist. Yes, you do want to root for her most times, but when you see how her actions starts to affect the supporting characters or her relationships with them, you see how realistically well her character is written... that everything from her past really stayed with her and it isn't always for the best.

I love all the Logan chat too! I never gave that much thought to the belt scene upon first or even second viewing, aside from just the reveal of the extent of his father's abuse. But thinking about it now, and without giving away spoilers too much, that scene is very telling about who Logan really is/becomes as a character. You will really get to see how this tough exterior he exudes is hiding a very fragile interior, and how in almost every situation he gets himself into, he tends to assume the role of silent punching bag for other characters.

I absolutely LOVE that you called him a Marshmallow, because it couldn't be more accurate! He really is one of the most sensitive characters on the show, as he just puts his own feelings aside so often for other characters-whether its for just cause or not. And the acceptant look on his face as he walks into the belt scene really shows that feeling of "Oh well, this is just my lot in life."

Jason Dohring does such an amazing job of acting with just facial expressions!
