It wasn't anything too devious, just a taste of his own medicine.

I have about 5" and 150lbs on him these days. One year we were both home for Christmas and he was laying down on the couch watching TV. I asked if he could help wrap a big present for someone. "Sure." "Okay, here I'll whisper you what it is since it's a secret."

He leaned in and you can guess the rest.

My brother is several years older and when I was a kid, he would say he had a secret to tell me. When I leaned in to hear the secret, he'd grab the sides of my head, turn around, and fart directly in my face.

It was the worst, but once we were grown up some ~15 years later, I was able to get my revenge.

I know the amount of detail in this whole flashback chapter is in service of the reader and better storytelling, but I still can't shake the image of Nanna getting more and more agitated by this spiderpaw going on and on about his brother and some war that has nothing to do with Shaensigin.
