There's this video, can't find it now...from last year, about a cop chasing a female suspect who'se quite the sprinter, all filmed by helicopter. When the male cop corners her, she puts her hands up and drops flat to the ground. Seconds later, the cop rushes in and starts beating her, and his partner arrives with a leashed police dog growling about 10 centimeters away from her face. When the beating stops, they both high-five. These guys had no idea they were filmed. She did everything they would have asked her to do - did it before she was asked, in fact - and yet they treated her like she was on PCP and ultra-violent. So many cops allow themselves to do what they want, it's a travesty.

Wow, she made NO sense. Anderson kept interupting and coming back because of how incomprehensible this woman was. I joined Choi's laughter throughout the interview.
The only time she made sense was when she managed a coherent statement, that some military have stated they would quit if gays were allowed, or at least not forced to keep quiet about their orientation. Cheap shot. Are more LGBT soldiers being fired than straight soldiers quitting over their inclusion?

And yet you cannot ever explain in any rational way why acceptance of gays and lesbians would be a bad thing for your kids. If your kids are shown in school that to be gay is Ok, then yes, perhaps they'll come out earlier and accept that they're gay - if they ever were gay to begin with! - which will free them from a lot of hurt in repressing, so it comes down to your unpsoken argument, which would be...gayness itself is wrong. Not hurtful to oneself or others, but just plain wrong. Anything done between people of the right age, willingly by both parties, that doesn't hurt them or others in pre-defined and clear ways set down in the law...is Ok for them to do.

You should see Lewis Black's angry standup comedy on YouTube, his section about how gays are setting out to destroy American families. He explores the idea in a literal fashion, which only goes to show how much of an unrealistic premise it is. Well worth watching.

You keep finding these nuggets of news that point to these ridiculous (read intentional) flaws in the legislature that allow various crimes and discriminations to go unassailled by the victims. How can the LGBT community keep track of the ins and outs of these laws? Are there organizations financing resource people that collect data and make themselves available for counsel, a bit like some active black communities?
