I'm digging into research on why my 8 year old healthy Springer has developed fecal and urine incontinence for the last year or so. She will pee even while sleeping and not get up. She will release a solid stool particularly when she is excited for example when a friend comes to the door. Previous to this, the dog was house trained no real issues. A manager of a dog care facility told me today Springer can have neurological problems that can cause incontinence. I have had two vets suggest we do a neurological workup which as you know can run into the hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Otherwise great dog. 95% of the time allowed off leash in a variety of settings keeping her mind keen and senses curious. She is a great field dog that is to say she listens, will check back before moving on, all of those traits of a comfortable dog. Great at home, likes being with people and allowed the run of the house. That has created problems now with the incontinence. thoughts?

Re: How to Shoot Professional Instagram Stories for Your Business | Wistia Blog

super well done, no hype no yada yada, no corny personality schtick. thanks

Re: After Effects Text Template Tutorial

so let me understand, I have to output every text animate and input it into another composition in which I want that text?

Re: 5 Tips for Improving Your Portrait Photography

very well done piece. These are 10 guidelines but some of these don't match up with the videos. For example, the Keep it moving video about the popcorn, kind of drags. If the speaker is the subject show him working, making popcorn, using camtasia, (I think there might be one shot towards the end) interacting with people both in the store and on the web. And those edits are slow, you want fast watch Diners Driveins and Dives, or any show on HGTV. Those are fast cuts. You could not have that in this video because the music bed was kind of slow which also drags on the piece.

Now I understand, sometimes a video team, which could be a team of one, may not have time or access to the shots that make sense to get. But that video jumped out at me because it was used to showcase the theme of Keep It Moving.

Another way to approach that is in blocks by topic. His speech cadence is slow, it just is, so let him go at his pace, but reduce the length of the bite, use the bite to set up a fast paced cut that leads into a Title card introducing the next topic. That's more about pacing and that's what I find more important, what's the pacing of the piece, does it hold the viewer's interest. Given that Chad does a bunch of videos I wonder why they didn't use a couple of his clips as V/O when he was mentioning him being recognized from the videos? Another one of those things that you probably just don't have time to get it done.

We all have violated any and all of these 10 guidelines so they are great to have as a checklist, But they are not gospel and they don't all apply to every video you do.
Lastly because anyone reading this that's been in video has had this happen, sometimes you have to go with what you got, make it work and that's that. No excuses, just the facts. Rule number 11 - keep creating content. : )

Re: Make Your Portraits Pop with Lightroom 5

Terry great information thanks

Re: 11 Tips for Photographing High School Senior Portraits

Nice post and good advice. One different perspective however, maybe I'm old school, but I've been on Twitter since 2005, so I'm well ahead of most. I would not post pictures I took of a client they didn't see. Regardless of who technically owns the copyright, I feel it's a courtesy to at least show them and ask about using them on social media. It could be a generational thing, so be it.

Re: 3 simple ways to stop a Twitter catastrophe

I see what you are saying in items 1 and 3. Or to put another way, it took a deluge of mediocrity and slop to appreciate news. I have a couple of decades on you my early social media adopter (excellent photographer) friend. To my older eyes, my news upbringing was 3 TV networks, dozens of thriving major daily newspapers, and oh let's call it a more trusting population. This Fake News syndrome is an evolution with a major catalyst being USA Today and Cable News, and when the network entertainment divisions took over the morning block of "news". The quest for ratings or perhaps more appropriate in today's fragmented environment is the need to solidify an audience. So it's not as much mass, but loyalty that commands dollars. Add to this exponential explosion the internet and "everyone is a publisher" environment.

It got here as a result of the proliferation of special interest groups vying for attention and money. (your "special interest" may be my inalienable right, but so be it) It got here with the manipulation of data e.g. polls say X or Y and half truths usually driven by PR agencies, think tanks and pollsters. It got here with an ever increasing competitive society, increasing costs for individuals just to stay even, creating a population with less time therefore getting their "news" by headlines e.g. USA Today til today's election dominated by 140 character assertions. It got here with all entities, media, political groups, non-profits, companies, and financial markets pursuing a strategy of divide and conquer. There must be an evil dragon to slay or some sacred right to save instead of a complex situation to solve, together.

Nora Paul, faculty member of the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communications once told me everyone has an agenda, we just need to know it. The subtle, but sinister difference is whether knowledge of an agenda is a means to understand or a means to destroy. Yeah, it's been coming for years but what's worse, it will not get better. All of those factors I outline are part of the new normal. What I don't see in the future is more patience and a willingness to understand.

All the best, and keep sharing your photos! Happy New Year.

Re: Anthony Bourdain's Chicago Episode Had Nary A Deep-Dish Pizza

well he knows that what's in the deep dish is technically not pizza.

Re: Brands Can Now Buy Interactive Video Ads for Facebook and Instagram

The Ad is dead, long live the ad.
