The only reason why you get the white marks is if you somehow injured the cuticle of your nail.
I happened to slam my thumb inbetween two doors, right around the cuticle area. Then when my nail started growing out, I had a big white blotch on the nail. That's the only reason why we get those.
But it's interesting about this woman's story.
